    Could this be a prolapse?

Sooo...im now 7 months postpartum and about 2 months ago i noticed that after going to the toilet I would have a little bit of blood and felt really tender...eventually it got so painful i was having to dab to wipe. Went to the GP who had a look said it looked red, inflamed and very tender, did swab tests everything came back clear but he gave me anti-biotics just in case. Started to feel better about 2 weeks later but recently the feeling returned again. Nyway...I finally plucked up the courage to have a look today and I can see a slight bulge in the entrance of the vagina! It is REALLY tender...I have to pat dry so that i dont irritate it and i have a burning, stinging sensation almost constantly...if I bend over i feel quite uncomfortable and sitting on hard surfaces makes it more sore...Does this sound like a prolapse?! Im freaking myself out googling so I thought id come in here for some advice/help. Am seeing my gyn in 2 weeks but need some advice to help calm me down...starting to freak out!

    Thanks all!

Could well be. I have a minor prolapse on my front vaginal wall. It can get quite uncomfortable, it feels like I do have a bulge there.

No need to freak out. Depending on what type of prolapse and to what degree will determine the course of action. I did have to go to hospital for an investigation by both the gyno and a urologist (due to they type of prolapse). I was not too bad, just painful to wee afterwards. I was put on oestrogen pessaries (for vaginal wall thinness) and advised to see a physio who specialised in pelvic floor work. We have discussed surgery, but will see I how I go over the next few years, as it really can't be done if you are picking up small children all the time.

Best of luck with it all

    Thanks for your reply Astrid...

just few quessies : Does yours actually hurt and cause a burning sensation? This is what is abit confusing for me b/c from what ive read about prolapses theirs no mention of burning/stinging sensations?!

How did they diagnose the prolapse? When my GP examined me their was no mention of prolapse...is this something he should have seen? At the time I wasnt even thinking thats what it could be otherwise I would have asked him straight out...

Have you found doing pelvic floor excercises has helped?

What about DTD? Im in so much pain atm I couldnt even contemplate how im ever going to be able to again!

Thanks again for your advice! much much appreciated

Does yours actually hurt and cause a burning sensation? Not that I remember. I remember feeling a bulge and DTD was painful after DD1. Feel pregnant, it was not noticeble then, but became more apparent after DD2

How did they diagnose the prolapse? I mentioned it to my GP. It took her a bit to find it, but she felt the bulge as well. It was hard for my gyno to find it and he was unsure what it was. It could have been my vaginal wall, or my uretha prolapsing. Hence the day surgery for them to have a good look and put a camera up my urethra. It ended up being the type of prolapse I suspected in the first place.

Have you found doing pelvic floor excercises has helped? Well, they might if I went off and did them. Have not had the money to see the physio, but I know I should do one visit even if I cannot go ongoing. I find when I remember to do them myself there is some improvement.

What about DTD? Im in so much pain atm I couldnt even contemplate how im ever going to be able to again! - I am much better these days. Gosh I remember a times it felt like I was tearing. I am no longer breastfeeding and am off any form of pill. Breastfeeding can cause vaginal dryness, which just makes DTD harder to do. Oestrogen pessaries can also help, I used them for a short while. I was advised to use lots of lube, even good ole veg oil

I have a bit of a sag, and it can be tender and uncomfortable if it gets rubbed.
It went back to normal after a while with DS, and is back again now. Can't remember how long it took, sorry. probably less than a year...

Not sure if maybe im feeling a burning sensation because i have a UTI....that could be a possibility. I just notice that im the most tender after going to the toilet and I feel at my best when I wake up...think lying down seems to help with the pressure. I also have a sensation to want to 'pull up' when im standing
Can I ask if you were still able to have a vaginal birth for your DD2? I had a c-sect for my DS1 and then a vaginal birth for DS2 - would love another but am worried about what this prolapse would mean regarding another pregnancy and birth....

Thanks ladies...Im not feeling *as* freaked out now...guess I will just have to wait till I see my gyno to confirm what im thinking

mambo just saw this thread after googling prolapse myself- can totally understand why you'd be freaked out! I was too!! This thread has made me feel a bit better!
Did you get any news on yours?

(totally just realised how much of a personal question that is, but would love some info if you're willing to share)

Hi Krystals....sorry for my late response just noticed your reply!

Welll...i ended up going back to my GP cause i noticed a small lump just on the inside of the vaginal entrance...he had a look and said it wld be worth getting it biopsied (now i was completely freaked out!) Good thing was I was seeing my ob the next day so I didnt have to wait and stress for too long. He had a look and said it was simply a skin tag from the hymen...i know...wtf! At this point thats what was bothering me the most so he explained I could just hold out or get it surgically removed. Ive opted to have it surgically removed cause it flares up every now and again...so having this procedure on monday...

Annoying thing is im still having this burning, weighty feeling down there...when I saw my ob i didnt mention anything about being worried i have a prolapse and he thoroughly checked me out and said everything looked fine . If its a slight prolapse is this something he should have seen or felt? Im now spewing I didnt mention this to him but at the time I was the most concerned about the lump...hoping ill get to see him before the procedure so I can ask him a few more questions..

Krystals have you had yours checked out? Are you experiencing a burning sensation too?

Sorry for the long winded essay...just thought id fully fill u in
