    Private party at Gold Class

I'm turning 30 this year & want to do something different to celebrate

One thing I am considering is having a private party in the Gold Class section at our local cinema. Numbers are quite limited but I was just going to have a 'girls night' so that's fine with me. They have packages that are all inclusive so I dont have to do anything! Only thing I'm worried about is how do I know there will be a movie on I want to see?

    Have you ever done this?

I've done it before, basically you hire out the whole cinema, at the cost per seat (I left the front row empty because bascially nobody wants to sit there, it was also if somebody wanted to come at the last minute), then you can organise catering through them (had people buy their own alcohol), also you can see any picture showing at the cinema at the time.

I attended one a while ago at Hoyts Melbourne Central. A friend of a friend organised a private screening of New Moon on the day it opened for her birthday. We had to pay I think $80 and that included alcohol (including a ****tail on arrival), substantial finger food, a t-shirt, popcorn, softdrink and the movie. The service was great, the alcohol flowing and the lounge area was lovely. It was a good night out.

I'd also go and see the cinema manager instead of ringing.

We've also had groups of friends hire out a whole cinema (the normal ones) for screenings.

Geez Sopdet, big group of friends for an entire cinema! Surely sounds AWESOME though, my mind is now ticking over....Did you get a group discount?

While I think about it, the Sun Theatre in Yarraville does group bookings and functions. It is a beautiful art deco theatre.

If this isnt near your neck of the woods, I'd suss out any local independent or Dendy cinemas rather than the big chain ones. You might fund they have better options.

Oh Cheezel, that sounds so cool! Definitely a great idea As for what movies there'll be, you can usually hop online for the particular cinema you'll be going to and click on coming up or coming soon, they have releases for months and months ahead - there are movies coming out this year I had no idea were being made!
