    Spelling Variations

My friend is now pregnant and her husband suggested the name McKenzie. She hates the spelling of the name, because to her having a name with Mc is a last name, not a first. Does anyone else agree with this?

I prefer it spelt makenzie, the Mc thing reminds me of mcdonalds too much!

The Mc is a littke weird for a first name IMO.

Yep I would never use 'mc' - & IIRC the literal meaning is 'son of'.
I love Makenzie, is she sure the DH even meant 'McKenzie'?

A friend of mine has a daughter with this name, she spells it Mackenzie. I actually prefer it spelt McKenzie, it looks nicer to me.

I know a few people called this and who have little girls with the name too ... none are spelt McKenzie though, there are a few variations in the people i know:

    Mykenzi
    Mackenzie
    Makenzee

    I prefer the middle one
