I'd probably crap myself but I wouldn't kill him!
I'd call, um, well who do you call? The ranger or RSPCA to come and collect him. Definitely wouldn't kill him!!
I hope your DP gets his 'Nake back safe and sound![]()
I just spoke to DP on the phone and his snake is missingThere are gaps around the side of the tank and after getting him out the other day, he forgot to tape them back up.. He is only a baby python, but I'm sure if he slithered into someones house they would kill him
Poor 'Nake.. I hope DP finds him curled up somewhere warm. He loved that snake, it was like his baby!!!

*shudder* i hope he finds him before some poor person gets a huge fright.
Sorry, but I'd kill it. Coming from the point of view where I have a dog and a child in our backyard everyday and I have no idea what snakes are harmless and want aren't I would rather err on the side of caution.
I hope it is curled up somewhere tho, or he comes back for dinner! Maybe someone needs to invent collars for them or something XP
Sorry Blessed, but I would kill it, if I didn't die of a heart-attack first. Snakes give me more than the shudders. I know it's a harmless snake, but it's like finding a shark in your pool & saying 'oh, it's harmless'. lol
I would kill it. Sorry. But harmless or not they will still bite. I a somewhat irrational fear of snakes... I'm scared looking at one in the zoo....
That being said I hope he finds it. It's horrible to lose a pet.
I wouldn't be keen on finding a random snake in my house either! But we know 'Nake, and even if he did bite, he wouldn't hurt.. He's just a baby.. Taking away the fact he is a reptile, it's awful to think of him out and alone, and as I said, he is part of the family.. We always go up to his tank and say hello and he slithers up to greet us.. If a human doesn't kill him, it could be anything else a car, a bird, anything..Poor Nake. DP is devastated.. He had him less than a year..
Not meaning to be rude at all, just curiosity, but would your dp be fined for his tank being holey? My brother has a snake and from what he's told me they get surprise visits to make sure all the gear is up to scratch and it's not kept in any rooms where people sleep etc...
I wouldn't kill.. I am too scared of them to get that close
But my fear stems from one trying to attack me when I was fighting a fire when I was younger, and it was scared, and I was the target of a brown..
Where do you live?
Most qlders would recognise a carpet python. Even an olive python would prob just be seen as a tree or whip snake.
if you live down south, and it is cold, he will prob just go into hybernation. But if he is only small, I dont like his chances against birds
He is most likely still in your house tho.....
GL, hope you find him
Is there any chance it is just hiding in the house? I am semi rural and we get snakes. Would never kill one without identifying it first. Would prob call the reptile man to get it. Let's hope if someone finds it they do the same thing. It might also be good to report it missing and also let the immediate neighbors know.
Definitely second the idea of letting the neighbours know, as well assuring them that he's harmless and to give you a call if they see him. Small snakes aren't likely to travel very far very quickly but unfortnately can get into all sorts of obscure hidey holes so could be difficult to find/catch.
Hope you find him though!
Oh no poor nake good u find him. As much as I hate them he is still a loved pet.
Oh no...shame you aren't closer as we have a few black headed diamond python babies in the front yard....wouldn't mind a couple less to shoo away.
I sucks that your Nake has escaped. Snakes sure are good at it. DH has I think about 50 snakes at last count. All different ages. We recently lost a hatchling and found it. Look for warm places, like DVD players, behind the fridge, back of computer. I also accidently let 3 escape (all about 2 years old) when DH was OS last year and found all 3 still in the house. So you do have a chance. I hope he turns up soon.
You could also ring your local wires and fire station and leave them details. I know here where I live the firemen will come if they are not busy.
Did you all know its actually illegal to kill a snake? The majority of snakes are protected. Its much more advisable to phone the RSPCA, or wildlife organisations to relocate snakes rather than kill them.
If I found a baby python, I would leave them alone, I love snakes but I would think it was a native and not try to catch it. I probably would encourage it to live in my yard by keeping the dogs away as I would worry about them harming it. But that is me, I love snakes... I love keeping them in the gardens.
Nake update: Well Nake was found by flatmate in the bath last night but he didn't wake DP and tell him, so of course this morning Nake had gone again.. Flatmate in BIGGGG trouble for not waking him up last night.. And flatmate is scared of Nake, so wouldn't put him back lol.
Helle - Would DP get fined? I have no idea.. Probably.. I wont tell if you don't![]()
