    hi girls!

i saw that we had a new thread so thought to post haha! YAY! we finally made it to the thread no.2 haha!

not much to report today. had a lovely day outside enjoying the sunshine: went to a cafe for some coffee and cake, bought some childrens books and wandered up and down checking out the sights of the city.

marta and leila are sleeping really well in the same room. i am so thrilled. although i am still finding it a bit sad to not have her beside me at night but they love it so much...

i wont repeat too much of what i said in the last post, just that i hope everyone is awesome

    helloooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

hahaha, the one (wo)man show lol!

I just heard marta cry which is out of the norm for her to wake before 1am and so i went in and her nappy had come off and she was soaking in wee! poor poppet. i somehow managed to get her changed into new clothes and nappy and sleepsuit...while breastfeeding lol! i *think* that is taking "dont wake the baby" to the extreme

    Hi Cassius!

    just so you're not alone!
that was some mean feat you accomplished! but how had her nappy come off?

good news here - DD hips are OK! yay! don't need to go back until she is walking.

and some "ouchy" news - I got bit by a wolf spider and have a big red itchy lump on my arm

question - what brand sippy cups are you all using? I have three and I still can't find one I am 100% happy with. I have just bought another today, though we haven't used it yet, so hopefully that will do the trick.

that is just the BESTEST news about bubba! what a big relief for you guys, now you can relax and just enjoy knowing that she is AOK!

sippy cup: i had a nuby one with the side handles that Marta liked, but am in the throes of trying to get hold of an "earthlust" birds and bees one. only cause they look cool and i hope that it will last a bit better than the plastic ones lol.

    Hi Ladies,

Just realised we had a new thread! Yay for us!!

Milly I can't believe bubba has 2 teeth now that is awesome news!! Are you still BF? Hope she's not biting you! That wouldn't be fun!

Cass: HAHAHAHA about Marta and the nappy that is hilarious! Great effort to for changing her while BF. Nicely Done! I too am having issues with Audrey sleeping in her Cot. Too far away so DF is making a nursery for us near our bedroom for #2.

AFM: WELL!!!!!!!!!!! Lots has been happening since I was last on, hence being MIA!! FIrst Audrey got a chest infection which we were taking meds for, then she wasn't getting any better so I took her back and did some more test and found that the meds she was on she had antibodies for so they weren't working, because she has a UTI - and that was what was making her sick not the chest infection, so the UTI has become more serious, but now her Chest Infection has become worse becuase she wasn't on the right meds, they were thinkg pnemonia (sp) but have ruled that out now, THANK GOD, but she needs to go have an ultrasound done on her kidneys and then we go see Peds for an all over check up....

They are thinking that one of the valves connected to the kidneys might be a 2-way valve, which basically means, once urine is made from the kidneys and goes into the bladder, it can then pass back up into the kidneys... It shouldn't do that... she's only 6.29kgs (within normal range, shes just petie) but she lost weight over 2 weeks coz she wasn't eating or weeing and OMG has it been stressful for us.... I have wanted to just ALL the time and its just crap!!

But it feel great to have said it on here without feeling any guilt!

Oh and top things off AF came back on Wednesday, sneaky little b**ch, I hate hate hate that she's back! Yes it's great I can start tracking my cycle coz it was all out of whack when we TTC but I hate having AF and besides it means we could 'accidently' fall before the wedding and I really really really want to fit into my pretty dress!! 10 more months THEN we can start TCC #2... I dont mind being 8wks pregnant at the wedding that I can deal with..

Sorry girls I know this post was very much about me, thanks for reading about my vent!!

Oh and Milly Audrey is using a Heinz sippy cup - hates it hates it hates it, but work requires every child to have a water bottle, even tho she doesn't drink out of it... Oh and no teeth yet too, kinda glad as I am a little freaking out about BF and teething HAHAHAH!!

    hi ladies!

HPL - poor Audrey!! hugs to you both and here's hoping the ultrasound goes well. Please keep us posted!
    And I hate AF too!

thanks for your feedback re the Sippycups. I just bought a nuby one, which seems to be better, but Cass, let me now how your earthlust one is going.

AFM - well, I have spent today in tears. so has DD. Started off with me waking up with a blocked milk duct (around half of one breast) and engorgement, super painful. And I think she is now getting her top teeth, and she is biting me while feeding, really hard, and her teeth are so sharp! I tried going ouch, and she laughed (and bit harder doing so), so I have been saying no - sometimes she laughs, sometimes she just looks at me. I can't pull out as she has hold and it hurts. My nipples are raw. Today I didn't mean to, but I really jumped and yelped, and tried to pull her off but in doing so I accidently scratched her face, as well as frightening her. She was inconsolable, she - and I - cried solidly for an hour. In the end she was just gasping and sobbing, and pulling at her ears again (she has finished the anti-biotics, but I am not sure it has helped, even though the doc says they are clearing, I think they are still hurting her). I ended up giving her some panadol because she was shreiking screaming at this point, and she litterally passed out (I mean sleep, not unconcious), I am not sure if it was due to the panadol, or that she didn't have pain, or just sheer exhaustion from crying. And then I felt terrible because a) if she was in that much pain that I had let her suffer for so long or b) if she wasn't in any pain then I had just been like a "casino mum" and doped her up for no reason .
As well as that I was crying from horrible cracked nipples and engorgement and swelling from my blocked milk duct and bruising from where I had tried to massage it to clear it. And I was also crying, because every time I tried to feed her, it just ended up with both of us in tears, and DH being not-so-understanding and saying "just give her a bottle [of frozen EBM]" but I haven't wanted to do that yet, as I don't want to not breastfeed just yet. So I was crying because I am not ready to give up breastfeeding, and not quite sure how to continue.
Anyway, she was asleep for about 3 1/2 hours - something she has NEVER done before, so then I felt even more terrible for either a) medicating her unnecessarily or b) letting her cry and be distressed for so long that she was so exhausted. Either way I am terrible mummy
By the time she woke up, it was too late for a bath and way too late for dinner (solids) so we just soldiered on with BF, which of course hurt, though she only "nipped" a couple of times, but we still had tears, both of us.

    *sneaks in*
I have been meaning to lurk my way in here & say g'day to you guys for just about forever (ok, well 6 months anyway). So sorry for butting in but I HAD to reply!

Milly - ouch you poor darling - you are SO not a terrible mummy! You are an awesome mummy who is doing a wonderful job, please don't beat yourself up. I think every mother goes through this "do I/don't I" dilemma with panadol at some stage, it really doesn't make you bad. And really hope those nipples heal asap, that sounds horrible

Cassius - g'day hun, how is life treating you? those bottles are gorgeous btw!

HPL - oh noes, you've had a rough time too. GL with the ultrasound, I'm sending positive vibes & hoping they can sort things out. Boo for AF, I got mine back in feb, I was so annoyed lol but then the next one wasn't for 6 weeks! So i figured that was a kinda bonus (I'm usually very regular so must be the BF'ing).

Re sippy cups, I've tried Nuby with no joy and am about to try Heinz baby basics today. My little munchkin has 2 teeth now but hasn't been biting thank goodness - so saying we still feed with nipple shields so maybe I wouldn't feel it anyway lol. I too have only wanted to BF her but now I need to get her onto something other than me cos she's starting 1 day of family daycare after Easter (yes that's a whole 'nother long story). Otherwise she's good, sleeping pretty well now too & adorably pudgalicious. She's still on meds for reflux with a review this month. My DH has been sick since early Dec with vertigo (that's why the daycare) so that's been my biggest hassle (oh and she was not sleeping well at ALL in the day earlier but has really improved now - thanks to sleep consultant/sleep goddess!). DH got better for 1 week (trialling meds) but did his back that week so he's now back on the meds and we just want them to kick in sooner rather than later! (OMG do I EVER!) Add to that my work has made me redundant and we've rehomed our dog. I think I have not been cursed with boring times, but then again, maybe no-one with a little bubba ever is!

Anyway that's our quick update, would love to lurk in here & try catch up with you all - I don't have much time, but I've been thinking about you all after lurking in the PG thread lol. Hope you're all well

    hi girls!

Milly: aahhh you are soooo NOT a terrible mother!!!! you guys are a great little team! sometimes things are just going to go to pot no matter what. man, we have had our fair share lol. (for example, had marta on a hip hold walking down the hall, she saw a toy swung her body out to grab it and clocked herself on the doorway right smack in the face ...yep, yep, glorious moment, made me feel a hundred bucks and her, well, she was shining a good proper red mark for a few hours...we were in silent cry territory, oh yeah baby!).

i have to second Belfie on the panadol thing. those were totally extreme circumstances and if that were me in that situation with even a hint of doubt about the pain in her ears then i would of followed the same path and given her panadol. that way you both can no doubt get a bit of rest

the biting thing is/can be really painful (dont you know it!). the best way i was told to deal with it (and the way i went along with it) was to slip your finger (while you are in excruciating pain lol) in the corner of her mouth and pry her gummy ol' jaws off the nipple (it pops the seal ITMS) and then they reflexivly loosen the grip and you can pull her off. try as best as you can to keep really calm and make no sudden exclamations. i wouldnt even bother with 'no' or anything at this stage as it is all *quite* entertaining for a baby (how little do they know that it sooo aint funny haha). then sit her up briefly to make her realise that booby is over, then pop her back on. everytime she bites do the same (this is going to sound bad, but it's kinda like training a puppy...keep calm and repetition repetition repitition lol).
anyway, this is how i went with it with leila...i'm sure you guys will find your way.

and big one of these for the engorgement remember to just feed off that side while there is a block hey! also a good idea to ice it up after a feed...

Belfie: HELLO gorgeous! man, i have been following (stalking ) you in the other thread from time to time. what a tumultuous time you guys have had . i didnt realise that furbaby had to be rehomed. hope you are ok xx (never an "easy" decision).
Annika is just divine BTW. i love checking out her pics on FB. and you're right, she is a glorious chubba bubba and always at the ready with a big smile! how did Xander adjust? Leila for the most part did really well, and TBH i'm not sure she even really remembers a time before Marta ITMS. she has her moments, but i find it hard to know if that is typical 3 year old (threenager in the house) or new baby IYKWIM. ah well, learning curves keep on coming with kids hey?!

Cherished: how are you babe??!! miss you!!!!!!!

AFM: we are all good here. marta is getting over her snot monster (and thanks for the reminder Milly, i must keep an eye out for her ears what with all the snot lol). she is busy getting around the place. she's not crawling as such but can drag herself across a room with frightening speed . her "crawling" i have worked out is not crawling as such but attempts to sit up on her own. she is really close though as now we are having midnight "practice" sessions lol. she always wakes at 2am for a feed (arghhh it's getting cold and harder to get up for those arghhh!!) and i have for the last few days found her on hands and knees rocking it like it's 1999 or in a "downward dog" (think yoga lol) possy.
her eating is coming along in leaps and bounds. she is now a certified fan of toast soldiers lol. i made some chicken drumsticks as well and she hammered into that as well as the lamb chops too. she couldnt believe the textury goodness of my mashed potato (i use my bamix to get it super fluffy), pity that it sets like cement though as she threw it EVERYWHERE hahahahaha!

    hi girls!

marta has finally beaten her snotty nose gosh i am so happy! she has now become a pro at fighting off my attempts to wipe her nose lol.

she is so so close to crawling now. she is able to push up on her legs and arms and lurch forward (usually to grab the dog's tail lol), so i am guessing that it wont be much longer....eeepp!

we also made the decision to pull her out of creche. i figured that I have finished my PhD now (yay!) and probably wont be starting any work until next year, so thought to fly by the seat of our pants and hope like mad that she will get a spot in one of the creches nearer to home next year that we have applied for (i can live in hope right??! lol).
i am quietly panicking now that we wont get anywhere as we told her current place at 3pm and they told us that we need to keep our spot for 4 weeks as notice unless they fill the spot...which they did half an hour later

    Evening Ladies and Bubbas,

Cass: Its great news that Marta has finally got rid of her snotty nose..... Poor poppet, so many chn have had colds and coughs lately! CRAWLING!! YAY, well kinda yay! I am more than happy for Audrey not start yet lol I'm like her staying in one spot right now

belfie: Hello and Welcome, don't think I have seen you post before, if you have sorry I'm bad at thing like that!! I can't believe your bubba has 2 teeth now! that's awesome!!! Audrey still hasn't got any, been teething and popping out all the time but then straight back up they go! I hate teething!

Mily: Oh my love you are definately NOT a bad mother!! God I have days where I just think MY GOD CHILD WOULD YOU STOP!!!! and then does the guilt just pour alllllll over me!! We love our children so much but there are times where we just need a break and then of course we cry hahaha.. I had that last week, just getting off the antibotics and she wasn't settling and I was up for 3 hours and didn't know what was going on, I checked her nappy 3 times, in the dark, and didnt see or smell anything. Then all of a sudden I though to myself turn the light on and check, what did I find, red raw bottom, my darling had gotten thrush becuase of the anitbiotics and I didn't think to check!!!! I felt awful and cried and cried and ended up sleeping with her in the spare room!! We all have days where we think we're just not doing enough, but you know what 99% of the time we are doing great and fabulous and terrfic, we just tend to focus on that tiny 1%

Cherished?? You still with us??? Hope you're well

AFM: Well she's been off the drugs now for 2 days, need to take a wee sample to docs tomorrow and then we will be sent off for more tests. She is the happiest little thing ever its still hard to think something might be wrong. Her wee's are still a little off, not smell off, just not the same amount or frequency so I know theres something going on. AND AND AND we're sleeping through the night again!! YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY Bedtime a litte later at 7 -730 which is A-Okay with me and she sleeps through til 6!!!!!! Soooooo proud of my baby girl!! Have been reading about introducing Meats to her diet, she really really likes her food, so I was thinking some mince might be on the cards for her... Any suggestions?? She had some meat pie the other day, pastry and all, didn't realise how close she was to mummies lunch lol didn't seem to bother her which is good....

Other than that things going well.... She gets up on all fours now, but really hoping she doesn't start for another few weeks yet, I want to do a complete clean of the house beforehand, just once, then I'll only vacuum once a week still, but I want it to be perfect for when she does start... She eats everything at kindy anyway so she'll be right

Hope all you lovely ladies and families are well!! Take Care xxoo

    HI ladies,
it's very quiet in here ....
thanks for all your words of encouragement - I really needed it!
Well, I am pleased to say that she has stopped biting. I think that she was learning how to feed and suck with2 teeth, while trying to cope with sore gums elsewhre. I just can't work out why teething needs to be so painful for them? I mean, from an evolutionary perspective, it just doens't make any sense!

Belfie - tell me more about your sleep consultant!!! I went to a community health run one and it well - well not helpful really. I would love for someone to come to our home. So Annika has 2 teeth as well! And it sounds like alot has been happening for you lately.

Cass - has Marta taken off yet? I think we are still a WAY off yet - she still doesn't even like to be on her tum - she's there for about 3 seconds, and rolls back. I think she will crawl on her back if she can!

HPL - how is Audrey now? Re the meat - I made up some rissoles but they weren't that good as the mince kind of broke up in what I would call "choke size" chunks. DD prefers steak (fillet no less, LOL) I just cut a strip off one of our steaks, and she just sucks and gnaws at that. I have also done it with a strip of chicken breast (but she prefers red meat).

Next week we'll be starting at daycare (with mum) in the lead up to mum going back to work in 4 weeks time (YIKES!!!). So NOT ready for that....

hi girls! sorry for the no posting...for some reason i didnt get HPLs update on my subs...

HPL: that is so so so cool (and envious) that Little Audrey is sleeping through! what a bubba! we are still on the one wakeup overnight, usually around 2-3am. it's only for 5 minutes so am confident that it will drop off in the coming months. but making the trek up the cold hallway wont be fun as winter sets in lol.

sorry to hear about the thrush . i got nipple thrush after the mastitis and Marta got it on her tongue. it was so hard to get rid off, so i feel for you xx

Marta eats meat, but like milly i find that she struggles a little bit with mince as when it cooks it does kinda form a few chokey size bits and Marta just spends the whole time gagging and getting cross at me ('cause it's all my fault lol).
we do the strips of steak, chicken and lamb (with the lamb we strip off a cutlet leaving a little strip on the bone for her to chew..she loves it, my little 'caveman' baby lol).

Milly: that must be a relief that she has stopped biting! we have a baby that loves to scratch your face off ATM and i am not sure what to do? i am guessing there isnt much i can do???
has the teething necklace helped at all?? argh! i so dont look forward to teething again lol.

AFM: well as of yesterday afternoon Marta has started crawling!!! . the house is no longer safe from her tyranny bahahahahaha! the cats have bolted from the house in sheer terror as this giggling, drooling machine charges after them lol. it also means that now i need to get safety locks on the doors and drawers as with the crawling her line of sight has risen and she is now interested in opening and shutting things. we already had our first hit in the head with a drawer and our first near miss where she tried to take off outside down the back step (thankfully not a big one, but still). it also does mean that i really really need to vacuum more often and sweep the courtyard area (we have leaves falling and loads of possum poo thanks to the resident family in the neighbours tree...yes, marta has tasted both yesterday eeeewwwww!).

Awww HI GIRLS! Thanks for thinking of me, I'm still here. I hate being one of those gals who posts all about themselves all the time and I haven't had time to read back through all the posts and reply properly to everyone so I just haven't been posting today I thought I hadn't gotten any notifications for ages and didn't think that there could be a new thread Anyway I'm here now and when I get on top of things at home I will reply to everyone and fill you in on what's happening here. In a nut shell I'm pretty good but have the worst cold I have had in YEARS, nothing like the sniffle here and there during pg.... gotta go DS is awake now.... promise I'll be back soon for updates. xoxox

    Hi ladies!!

Yes, it is quiet in here, but I think that it's a good thing - it means we are all busy with our bubs and our lives IRL to spend too long on BB! I know I struggle to find the time. And when I go back to work (next week - yikes!) I will be probably only popping in once a week or so.....

    So .......

Cass - Marta crawling - wow! DD shows no sign of it here, hates her tummy time and will roll straigt back, but she will pull up (with assistance) and take weight thru her legs, so I reckon she is just going to wait till she can walk and skip the crawling all together! I had to laugh at everyone saying about needing to do some cleaning though, because I have been thinking that too!

Cherished - good to see you! Bad news about the cold, I hope it's better now!

HPL - how is Audrey going? She must be crawling now too, or very close?

AFM - well, DD had a snuffly nose for a week (I think it was hayfever, as she wasn't sick like a cold), it was just that she couldn't blow her nose, so she was all blocked up and couldn't feed, sleep or breathe through her nose. So poor mummy was very tired. Thankfully she is better now.
Our main "troubles" have been around sleeping - well day sleeps or naps - and for me they are still a challenge, but at least she goes to sleep for dad. I think she smells the milk on me, and just wants to suckle all the time because its nice.
Eating - she is enjoying her food, and likes feeding herself. She surprises everyone with what she eats (solid finger food only). If she does have a soft food like yoghurt, she won't allow me to use the spoon, she has to do it herself, miss independence.
And the biggest news - I am going back to work, just part-time, but still We have day care organised, which I am happy with what we have arranged, I just don't want to have to do it.
And the big plan is, after going back to work, we will begin TTC, so hopefully I won't be back there for very long!
Well that's us in a nutshell. Hope all you ladies are doing well.

PS. Is there anyway I can PM you guys a photo??? I don't have a facebook/photobucket/etc.

hi milly! i wish i was busy i just dont wanna hijack the thread hahahaha!

poor bubs with the snuffly gruffly nose . do you get hayfever too? do you think the "little fess" would work for her? (the snot sucking thingo). we also jack up the cot with the yellow pages when Marta is blocked up. i find that it helps.

and wow! back to work! part time is pretty good though, and yeah if you are TTC then you may just not be there long i am hoping to get part time work too. i would love for it to start next year as i am having a good time at home (never got to do it with dd1).

i had to laugh at the soft food...marta is the same, she hates it because she wants to do it all! and strangely she seems to spit most of it out! but give her a lamb chop and she cleans it right up

AFM: well the renovations are pretty much done. have to just wait on benchtops and splashbacks, but at least the house is FINALLY free from plaster dust and marta can crawl easily around. although on that front the poor poppet has bruises on her arms from commando crawling
