    Baby Sensor Mat

Hi just wondering if anyone has found the sensor mats useful at all. I had a tommee tippee one with my first bub and it was good just quite expensive.

Sine then DH has found me a video baby monitor online for quite a reasonable price, I always thought they were a bit excessive but DD2 liked the door shut and was a light sleeper so I could never tell if she was whinging because she was stuck or just settling herself down.

I was contemplating getting the video one and having a sensor mat separately? Has anyone had one before? Tomy make a sensor mat but dont I can't find an Australian stockist.

    Love to hear your thoughts!

I have an angel care monitor with the mats, it was recommended by a friend. But, bubs isn't here yet and when she is she'll be in our room for a while so I can't give a personal recommendation! My friend loved it, her baby was in her own room from day 1, and the only time the sensor went off they rushed and she was fine. She said it gave her peace of mind seeing as sids can be caused by bubs going into too deep a sleep when they're on their own, then not stirring out of it - the movement sensor picks up on that, and when they stop breathing

I to have the Angelcare monitor and sensor mat. DF was a real worrywart with the first baby (DD2) and wanted almost constant reassurance that she was ok while she was sleeping. Buying this eased his mind so much and we used it with DD3 and I'm sure he will want to reuse it with this one. The 1st few months seem to bring out the worst in him lol

We have the Angel Care mat and monitor and it is great. As DD was born early she had a few 'waxy' episodes in SCN. It gave us peace of mind when we brought her home. It has gone off once and she was ok but it took me a few seconds to wake her up. I think she was in a deep deep sleep?

One thing to mention is if you have a pedestal fan on or near the cot, the vibration of that fools the monitor into thinking the baby is ok. Once we took out DD but forgot to switch of the monitor, about an hour later that thing went off...

Ours is about 2.5yrs old so they may of fixed that issue

Another mum with the Angel Care Sound & Movement monitor - we love it

I had a video one originally but it didn't work properly due to all the wireless appliances in our house so we got an Angel Care instead. The video would have been good but I much prefer our sensor pads for peace of mind. I'm not sure how two monitors would work together that closely though, not sure whether they'd interfere with each other or not

We only bought ours a few months ago, and the instructions do mention about having a fan or anything vibrate-y nearby. I'm guessing it's because the sensor pad has to be super sensitive to pick up a tiny baby breathing through the mattress

Yup, they are super sensitive so a slight breeze from a fan can be enough to 'trick' them - valances are a real trick blowing gently! We always test ours first when in doubt (so when the aircon or fan is on).

Angelcare here too!! I love it, we test it with the window open or the fan and it's fine.............I couldn't be without it.
