    Needing some advice on work..

As much as I would love to stay home with DS who is 20 months, due to our financial commitments I need to work... (well for the time being until we get our finances sorted anyway). Basically - financially we need for me to go back to least 4 days a week for least a few months until we can get our finances sorted. We have such a tight budget, and I can not possibly tighten it anymore.

At the moment I work 5 days a fortnight and I hate it, I dont mind having to work I just plain hate my job.. I am so incredibly bored, I seriously have no work to actually do I have raised the issue with my manager and my managers boss, and they don't seem to care. To give you an idea I might actually only do about an hours worth of work a day, which is usually something mind numbing like filing. Most of my days is spent on BB, FB and hotmail

Funnily enough even though I dont have any work to do, they are putting on more staff, and I have been offered more work and could do up to 4 days a week or the alternative is that I have also been offered 2 days a week at another employer.

The other employer is just as bad... I know I will be bored there as well (I worked there before I had DS).. The money is better, but it will be as a temp - I will be paying more tax as its a second job. But its only for a few months... so could be a good way to see if I can cope with 4 days a week.(?)

Add to the mix DF and I are TTC, and I currently now qualify for mat leave at my current job, and if I up the hours it would mean I would get more when I go on mat leave (iykwim).

As well as having a toddler, a parttime job, I also have a small business from home which means by the time I get home, DS feed and to bed (DF helps no issues there) I then start the rest of my day and will often be up till midnight making stock for my website. So working 4 days a week will possibly kill me.. I cant stay on top of the cooking and cleaning some days as it is!!

Sorry its a bit of a ramble I have so much going on in my head.. and I just need to get it out and I have no one I can really talk to about it, who can give me constructive unbiased opinions!

I don't know if I can be much help.

Maybe you need to do a pros and cons list for the 2 jobs. If the second job isn't going to be anymore stimulating the only plus for that really is the extra money, but then you said you will be paying more tax.

On the otherhand, if you increased your hours at your current job, as you said you are TTC, you will qualify for Maternity Leave and get it at the higher rate, so does that outweigh the benefits of taking the 2 days a week with your old employer.

    Hard decisions for you.

I agree - do a list with all the pros and cons of all of your options and see what you come up with. You could also look at what are dealbreakers and if either of the jobs has these.

If you are bored in your current role is there any way you can ask for some extra training so that you could take on some more or different types of work?
