I prefer Madalinn. Unless you want to pronounce the LINE at the end? My baby cousin is Madeleine just to throw a spanner in the works

I believe madeline is just that MAD-a-line

    madelyn is MAD-a-linn

    and Madeleine is MAD-len

    I agree with Madelyn = Mad-a-linn

I always thought of Madeleine as Mad-a-len

But my MIL is Madaleine and it's pronounced Madaleene

I have a Madeleine and we say it Mad-e-lyn - actually we just call her Maddie. Takes out the confusion

It will be shortened to Maddie regardless but I still want to nut out the first part!

It will be throw into the too hard basket shortly and I had better hope the next one is a boy or "she" will be nameless.

Yeah, I know ... we spend our lives explaining to people how to say it (and how to spell it). I prefer Mad-e-linn to Mad-e-line but that's just me. If you are looking for a name that they make all those personalised things for from the gift shops, I have seen 'Madeline' on a few things but I have yet to find 'Madeleine'. Most people who read Madeleine's name and haven't heard it first say 'Mad-e-line' even though I am sure the extra 'e' means it should be pronounced 'Mad-e-linn'.

People who do know us, can never remember where the extra 'e' goes in her name and always get the 'i' and the 'e' mixed up.

I have a Madeline - and never considered changing the spelling - in hindsight I wish I had chosen 'Madelyn' .

Actually, we only ever call her Maddy, should've just stuck with that eh lol!

I have a Madeleine which is pronounced as Mad-a-linn. French cakes are called Madeleines and from my understanding are pronounced Mad-a-linn.

    I think I prefer Mad-a-line

there was a kids show about a little french girl called madeline and her adventures all over paris!

Now my only problem is a) not sure Lily goes with it as the middle name and b) still need to work on the baby part! lol

I prefer the MadaLYNN pronounciation. I think it sounds nice with Lily as a middle name. Would you consider just having Maddie if that's what you will call her?

    That's the usual spelling, Madeleine.
    Love it
