    Question Post baby belly

Lately i have began to notice that my belly is sagging, from one hip to the other there is excess skin just hanging. When i walk i feel my belly moving. It looks and feels disgusting.

Is there anyway to tone it up without having to have a tummy tuck??

I was never expecting to have a great looking belly post baby as i have so many stretch marks but i didnt think 8 months on it would just sag..

I have had to resort to wearing a belly band so it doesnt hang..

Sorry I can't help you, but I'm in the same boat, except I'm 3 kids down the line and currently having No 4, so I think there is no hope for my stomach other than surgery. I also had quite severe strech marks.

I'm wondering whether a skin firming lotion in conjunction with core excercises might help.

Other than exercise all I can really recommend (for saggy skin) other than surgery is clever wardrobe disguising techniques .

i don't think so i'm afraid. it's not really your muscle tone, the elasticity in your skin has been stretched and the only way to get it back is to get rid of some of the stretch

I have lost about 6 kgs recently and have been exercising and have found that core work has definitely helped. My DS was 10lb and I am only 5'1 so you can imagine how huge I was, DD was big too. Anyway I still have some saggy skin going on and I don't think anything will ever help that part, but I definitely have more tone. I had c/s' as well so have the hang from where they cut. Regular exercise and yoga/pilates should help a bit but if it is mainly skin I think surgery is the only thing that can fix it permanently. I have decided to work hard at keeping myself fit and at a healthy weight and accept my belly for what it is. I am cursing the fact that when it was flat and toned that I thought I was fat ...ugh to be able to go back now!

I would think that if it saggy skin then there isn't much you can do. It might get a little better over time... skin does repair itself a bit. Maybe you could put on some weight again and fill it out a bit? .

I too have the same problem - I've just lost 17kgs after two big babies (9pd 12oz and 10pd 9oz) one via c/s, I think c/section scar makes it look worse! A friend of mine told me that if you see your GP and you've had a c/section you can go on the waiting list for a tummy tuck through medicare as it's not classed as cosmetic surgery, it's classed as reconstructive - not sure if you have to of had more than one c/section though - she's had three and is currently on the waiting list. I've also heard you can claim it through medicare if you have PCOS - not sure if its true or not though...

I would think a tummy tuck would not be recommended for someone who is planning more children. Think of your stomach as a badge of honor. There are lots of women on this forum who would love a post baby belly! It is certainly nothing to be ashamed of.

My tummy sag has improved a lot with core muscle exercises, but there is still a tiny bit of overhang. After exercise, careful clothing planning is all that is needed to disguise my tum

One of the reasons behind my PND is i havent been able to come to terms with the physical changes since having a baby, by no means did i have a flat belly before hand but the flabby and sagging skin has really got me down. Especially when it comes to find clothes to wear i have resorted to buying shirts 2 sizes bigger than my size just so they are tight..

And i wasnt setting out to offend or upset anybody.

Have you ever looked at the website "a shape of a mother"? It might help reassure you that your post baby belly is really normal.
