They're ok - once you get the formula worked out, they become easier, you get to work out what they want to hear, especially if you've rung the contact person and questioned them about the position and what they're looking for.
Usually ask questions about things that are in the info about the job & duties but not mentioned in the selection criteria, also ask about the dynamic of the team, if there are any specific skills that would be viewed highly. Sometimes I ask where the person who's position it was gone. Also if there is anybody currently in the position.
