Your DD sounds so gorgeous! No advice really hun, wish I had some for you! Just wanted to wish you luck with it but I'm pretty sure she'll be very excited once her little brother is born!
I am sure someone will have better ideas then me but I just wanted to give you a big hug and also say your DD sounds super cute
Perhaps you could go to pumpkin patch or somewhere fancy and get her to pick out the going home outfit and a little toy for him to get her excited? Maybe go through some boys names and get her opinion? Or show her some of the boys toys they could both play with (those ride on tractor things with a scoop look pretty cool imo!)
You could either tell her you have lost your receipt so you wont be able to do an exchange.
OR you could make a big deal about how she is such a special girl that mummy and daddy wanted just one. (So she will always be the Number One Special Girl).
Similarly you could say that daddy is lonely being the only boy in the house??? OR that this little baby boy was looking for a really special big sister and he chose her???
Good luck with however you end up telling her. Either way, she will come around and love the baby regardless. Until they are teens. Then they will hate each other regardless!
lol funny aren't they? My DD was very similar....only wanted a sister.
We told her that our baby chose us especially because she'd make such a great big sister, and that mummy and daddy don't get to pick whether the baby that chooses us is a boy or a girl, we're just lucky to get such a special baby for our family.
Perhaps you could clue up the front desk people at your local Kmart (so that they aren't rude or abrupt) and take your DD in to show her that shops don't deal with babies?
DD#1 (who is 4) has been wanting a brother for ages - so Im worried about how I'll tell her if this bub ends up being another girl!
I think you just have to say that its very special to have a new baby, whether its a boy or a girl, and that she will be a wonderful big sister!
All the best
I would be use something similar to what N2L suggested. I really like the idea of her being number one girl (although that could backfire if you ever plan on having any more bubs, and they are girls! )
And if she doesn't let up on wanting a sister, you can always hope they were wrong at the u/sound!
goodluck with it though! (at the moment we are trying to convince DD1 to let us have another baby, she is determined that we have enough kids! )
Haha Oh that is so cute with your DD! Congrates Trish!
I was thinking maybe buy her a baby boy dolly or pumpkin patch kid that is a little boy and let her get used to him being around her, playing together etc. Sure she will fall in love with a new dolly and will prepare her to meet her lil brother!xox
