Keep a close eye on yourself and at the first sign go to the DR. DD1 had it while pregnant with DS2 and was having injections every day. It took a while to recover.

Hi all
I'm new to this forum and still finding my way. I did try to search on this topic but didn't find much. I wondered if anyone has had any experiences with pneumonia during pregnancy. My 4yo neice has pneumonia on her chest, poor little cherub, and I had to look after her on Saturday night. I stayed in the same room as her with a mattress on the floor by her bed and she spent the entire night coughing in my direction. It was an odd situation as I was staying at my sister's place and she only has a small house and I couldn't stay on the couch because her partner had something he wanted to watch on the TV at the crack of dawn so I had nowhere other than her room to sleep in. We didn't know she had pneumonia until today and now I'm really worried that I picked it up from her. I have had pneumonia twice - once in 1999 and then again in 2004 and was hospitalised both times. I am 9 weeks pregnant and very concerned. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks![]()

Personally I'd be having a chat with your Dr well before showing any symptoms - pnuemonia usually develops from a cold or flu, if your niece had the flu they may be able to give you anti-virals or something to head it off. Plus it can't hurt to have the reassurance and discuss the risks with your doc.
