    Stretch and Sweep- success rate?

Hi ladies- well im 40 weeks TODAY and soooo ready to have this baby. Just had doc app and he did a "stretch and sweep", Babys head is fully engaged (he said he could feel it- eeekk) and he said im about 2-2.5cm dilated...

Have had a little light pink bleeding but nothing much (only had appointment 1 hr ago and already im on here lol)

Can anyone tell me their experiences with stretch and sweeps and how successful they were for you?

I had a baby three days later but I doubt it was the s&s ...

oooo how exciting, your little one will be here soon!

I'm not sure my first S&S did anything to be honest, I had the same 'stats' as you and made it to my 41wk aapointment! the pink bleeding is normal as your cervix has been aggravated

My second S&S however, 4 hours later and I was in 'noticeable' labour- i say 'noticeable' as I'd been having contractions for a week.... but they definitely amped up a notch!!! I remember losing my plug before everything started though, so that might be your next sign.

Best of luck, look forward to seeing your BA soon!

With DS2 the midwife did a stretch and sweep to ramp up the contractions and i was only 3cm at the time and 3.5 hours later i was holding my baby

I had one at 40 I think, same stats as you (I'd been 2cm dilated since before Christmas, had bub 18th of Jan) and ended up being induced at 41+3
I had a fantastic, natural, no tearing, drug free induction tho! XD

I had 2 or 3 S&S with DS when I was post dates. The midwife said that if it was going to work then I would be in labour in 24 hours. It was the last that worked for me - I went into labour about 20 hours later. I think a S&S is only effective if you are pretty close ready to pop anyway. DS was 12 days over.

Ive had sweeps done with all 3 of my pregnancies and they never sent me into labour. I was induced with each one.

I had 2 done with DD2 and unfortunately ended up being induced. They definitely upped the amount of CM and pre labour but not enough obviously.
    How are you feeling now?

I had one at 36+3 weeks as I was 2cm dilated and they wanted to induce due to pre-eclampsia. It did assist with losing the mucous plug and amped up the pre-labour, but 3 days later I was induced via AROM and I had dilated a half centimetre I think. Good luck hun, it wont be long now even though each day feels like a week

I had two with my DS. The first at 41+3, and the second at 41+5. I was already 4 cms dilated. They didn't do a whole lot for me except some cramping. Had DS at 41+6 after 2.5 hour labour.

I had one with #3, woke up the next morning in labour, she was born 49hrs later.

Had one with #6, did nothing but made me lose my plug.

Had one with #7, had LOTS of regular contractions that day and intermittent strong ones over the next week, also had lots of increased mucous and lost my plug. Ended up being induced 8 days later but when i had the sweep done my cervix was long and closed, when i was induced i was 3cm, stretching to 6cm. So it did something over the course of that week.
