Well with the help of 3 lovely ladies I finally got a CV and cover letter I am happy with so sent off my application for a graduate program today! Apps close on friday, so hopefully it wont be too long til I hear..
Gigi - No nothing like that! No Uni for me.. I'm over studying!!!
In June I will have completed my diploma of nursing then I will be registered with Australian Health Practioners Health regulation Agency which will allow me to work as and Endorsed Enrolled nurse. (Endorsed means I can give medication). The hospital's here on the Gold Coast (and Aus wide) offer programs when you graduate, which is really the only way to get a hospital job without experience. They offer you either 12 months or 6 months full time or part time depending on the hospital. It's paid work, but you still have the support of preceptors and education opportunities to assist you with your 1st year working as an EEN... They only have limited places though, and if I don't get in, I'll probably have to find an aged care facility to employ me until I get experience, because as I said, hospitals don't employ people without experience unless it's through the grad program.. I hope I have explained it ok??
Thanks everyone else for your good luck wishes.. Good news is using my new cover letter and resume, I just changed a few things to suit aged care and I got an interview next week with an agency (as an AIN) so YAY!
