How great are good quality towels!!

So I've always heard people rave about Sheridan towels but have never been able to afford them. Well, I returned to work recently and got my first pay at the same time Myer had their Sheridan towels on sale $40% off... I'm convinced! They're soo soft! Why didn't I do this earlier. Anyone else recommend any other brands that are awesome?

I've found the sheridan facewashers (I got for $1 each in an outlet ) are awesome and don't look shabby after a few washes. I don't have sheridan towels but I do have lovely egyptian cotton ones. They have been abused something horrid throughout their 18 months we've had them and still looking shmick! I'll see if I can hunt them down and check the brand for you! Mum got them ridiculously cheap too

I used to work at Target... their top-line range is made by Sheridan, as are their 1000 thread count sheet sets... so when they go on sale, I buy up BIG! And much cheaper than Myer.

    Woohoo for towels!

oooo, I thought the 1000 thread count sheets I bought were orgasmic. Now I know why! Definately splurging at Target when I need more sheets and towels!

ETA: Can't find the towels right now, I think they're in the washing machine. I do remember Mum mentioning Target when she asked if I needed some though so it may be the ones Divvy is talking about

Many, many moons ago I worked at Myer. I bought eight or so Martex egyptian cotton bath sheets. This is 15-20 years ago and they were $120 then (I bought them reduced, with staff discount!!!)

I still have them and still use them. Still good

I too have had mostly Target ones prior to this, they are good and have definately stood the test of time and harsh washing/drying conditions where I use to live. I did once buy some 1000 thread count sheets but they shrank first wash!!! I'd got them online for quite cheap. I will keep an eye out for target sales I so need more sheets!

Yep, I think of them as a cheap exfoliator LOL

We got navy Sheridan towels as a wedding present but have never been able to use them as they put blue lint over everyone who uses them. Sheridan suggested putting them through the clothes dryer a few times (which would be good if we had one). So the moral of the story is don't get dark coloured towels if you don't have a clothes dryer.

Been very happy with my Country Road towels.

They have the towels located near the layby rack so I've read the sign about them , hmm prob 100 times...

Target suggest NOT to use fabric softener on them, and if you do , a little bit of dishwashing liquid to bring them back up again...

    anyone else read this?

Most towel labels suggest no fabric softener due to the fact it reduces absorbancy so defeats the purpose. I hate the slimy feeling on stuff if someone uses fabric softener, I can feel it. The egyptian cotton towels always come out feeling soft anyway so no need to add any softener.

Saffi- my sister's DP wanted black towels and now that they have them he wants white towels for the exact reason they put lint on everything. I might suggest to her to hijack mum and dad's dryer when she visits next to see if that helps!

Yep - Sheridan bath sheet users here too, I am definitely a towel snob. My MIL bought us some cheap-ar$e towels last Christmas that are useless, after using them my hair is still sopping wet and the towels are crap (and already fraying after a few uses, they are now in the back of the linen cupboard), spending good money on towels is definitely one of my luxuries
