    SRC Recovery Shorts

I was wondering if anyone is using/previously used SRC recovery shorts to aid with your post birth recovery.

I mentioned them to my midwife and she thinks they may be a good investment for me to use once my twins are born due to possible large stomach muscle seperation and the level that my skin has also stretched, plus as we will be having them by c/s it is suppose to support the c/s scar as well.

Before I spend the money on getting them I wanted to find out if you have found them beneficial to aiding your recovery, especially if you suffered from stomach muscle seperation.

    Thanks

I have them and they have helped my muscles come back together and help support me while I exercise and they are also good under clothes as they smoothe out the bumps and lumps. I'd recommend them from personal use. I rung them and discussed size with them as I am between 2 sizes and definately glad I went with the bigger size because they are really stretchy and tight.

Edit to add: Also the hospital physio recommended them to me and said they were great

I used the Pregnancy shorts and Recovery shorts. I found them both beneficial for my SPD. The Recovery shorts do help suck in the tummy, but it's not a miracle cure for the post-partum flab (so no looking like a supermodel 5 min after giving birth, sadly). They do help support the tummy muscles.

Yes agreed, wonderful for muscles and holding it in but doesn't magically make excess skin/flab go away

WinterRaven: I got DH to measure me and I'm at the lower end of an XL but the recommendation is to get the size down if this is the case. Did you find getting the larger size gave you more flexibility?? I'm not expecting to loose too much weight (apart from baby weight) after the birth as I have only put on 13kg's so far for this pregnancy and none of that has been on my body - it is just all baby weight, so maybe I should opt for the bigger size.

Also did you start wearing them immediately after giving birth (maybe not the first couple of days) or did you wait a week or so until all the post delivery swelling etc went away? I'm thinking that if I do get them that I probably won't start wearing them until I get home from hospital after I have recovered some what from the c/s.

I used both the pg and recovery shorts and found them excellent for my SPD. The recovery shorts are a pain in the bum to pull down each time you need to go to the loo, but worth it for the support. They don't magically get rid of excess flab, but I think my tummy flattened out (well, sort of!) much quicker this time then with my previous two pg's.

Subscribing too as I was wanting to ask the same question today :-) They're quite expensive so was wanting to know if people found them useful before spending the money. Can I ask, for those of you who found them useful, did you use them day & night?

I had an awful bandage that the physio cut for me, it was tight, the top and buttom would curl up and dig in to me and was just nasty. The problem I have is that I had a small waist and huge hips, so the bigger size was to accomodate my hips which are unmoving but it was still tight around the tummy as they should of been. I ordered them while wearing the terrible bandage and then wore them form about 2 weeks post birth

I wore mine day and night for about 6 weeks, then only at night for another 4 weeks or so as they were quite hot during the day in the middle of summer. I had a vaginal delivery with a natural tear and sutures. I first put them on after my second shower post delivery, so maybe six or so hours after birth. I used the shorts for moderate to severe SPD and found they provided huge pain relief. The pg shorts I wore constantly, took them off to wash and had an increase in pain by the time they were dry.

The Recovery shorts come right up under your boobs and are quite tight so I really did find them a pain to pull up and down. I had to wrestle them around every time I visited the loo, which was often as I drank heaps of water to try to establish a milk supply. Having poor ab strength makes it even harder! They felt great when they were on though!

I think then maybe the large will be o.k for me as I used to have a smallish waist (before it vanished along with my belly button) and as I am on the lower end of the XL it should be o.k. I think that I might have to invest in 2 pairs...eeekkk expensive.... as I will probably need to live in them day and night for some time after the twins are born to support my stomach muscles and to hopefully help them knit back together. At least it will be winter when I have to wear them so won't have the problem of being hot & sweaty over summer with wearing them and they will hide easily under my winter clothing.
