Post natal bleeding.... this is normal right?

    Hey, Just curious...

This is the first time using cloth after baby. All seems to be going well. BUT I wanted to ask.. This is TMI & is either going to be embarrassing if its not normal or reassuring if it is..

Ok, so its been 1 week. The first 36 hours of the heavy bleeding went ok ish. I had a couple of leaks but no big drama's with the cloth. I was using the maternity pads I made at night but could make do with a "regular flow" pad during the day.
My bleeding had settled down to more a there on the pad & when I wiped but not a flow as such. BUT since saturday I have a flow again. I am changing the pads every 2 to 3 hours. They are not soaked as such but enough for me to not want to not change it. Now I am use to a heavier flow after baby. I tend to bleed for WEEKS & WEEKS Longest I have done is 11 weeks. Shorted I think was 9.

Now for the TMI & possibly bit. I am not sure if the blood loos is normal as in colour, texture & smell. Its not a yuk colour its just a darkish red but still looks like fresh blood not old. But I can't really tell on the pad as my tops are mostly purple bamboo velour. When I wipe its red. But its like a thickish egg white texture. Stringy & well egg white but red. Now smell wise.... Its not offensive but there is a smell. But Im sure its that "blood" smell. It is normal for there to be some sort of smell right? Even with your period there is some change in smell right? Please say yes.....

Now normally I wouldn't be paranoid but I am. I had a fever the other day which I am sure was related to my boobs. Almost mastitis. But I managed to deal with that with out resorting to the Antibiotics I got.

But while I have no pain, no cramping no nothing to indicate it could be an infection brewing in my uterus... Im paranoid. I feel fine now. Not sick no fever etc. Just need some reassurance that the bleeding is normal....

I have such big gaps between cycles with either being pregnant or breastfeeding Im really out of touch with the whole blood from the vagina thing LOL

I would let you dr know and make sure it is ok, just to be sure.

I am no expert (not by a long shot!)

BUT... I had what I thought was just heavy bleeding, there was a smell but it was just what I thought blood smelled like. I even phoned the midwife and confirmed the amount o blood wasn't to be worried about. Then within hours everything changed and I was emergency with extreme pain (worse than labour) and retained products

It is probably nothing but if it isn't looking right to you then it is worth checking!!
