Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is normal as it hasn't happened to me in the past..
Lately when AF arrives, it's always rather watery and thin, and fairly bright red. It has been like this the past 5months, with the exception of one month were it was thick and dark, and was a rather painful experience.
Is there anyone who knows/has experience this before?
So you've come off the pill recently, since you've been experiencing the strange periods? That would make sense as your periods off the pill can be quite different than what you experienced taking the pill. I've personally noticed my periods have generally gotten lighter as I've aged too.
The heavy period you described could have been an early miscarriage or just a random heave period, it's hard to know. I had a very odd period over Xmas/New Year for no reason at all. Shorter cycle, several days of spotting then a much lighter flow but the next month is was back to normal so I think our hormones just shake things up a bit sometimes.
I haven't been on the pill in about 3 years It makes me ill
I suppose it could just be to do with age. Could it have anything to do with having had a termination previously?
Hmmm, not sure hon. I had quite bad endo as a teenager and into my early 20's but my gyno said I was one of the lucky ones who improved with age - I don't really experience any endo issues any more! So that may also explain why my periods have gotten lighter (they were terribly heavy and extremely painful for the first 10 years or so) and I can't be sure if having a baby had something to do with the change in my periods either
I don't know whether a termination would affect your periods or not but I wouldn't have thought so. Maybe a chat with your doctor would be wise. They may refer you to a gyno to suss things out.
