I used to use the syringe thingy. I tried putting it in milk but my kids wouldn't take it that way.
How do you give your bub Panadol/nurofen? I'm also wondering if you can get it in a powder? DS has only had it a few times but it's been a real mission. The 1st time he was in such a state that I squirted it all in and he passed out a minute later! The 2nd time he spewed it all up along with all of his dinnerThen I had to shower him again and try to give it to him again all while he was crying like crazy. I ended up putting it in with some apple and he ate it. But I tried that trick again and he wouldn't have a bar of it.
So what do you do to give your bub panadol/nurofen?

In a syringe but we use Dymadon instead of panadol (same thing) as its a nice orange flavour.. nuophen we get the strawberry one. DS i use to have to give it on a spoon as the syringe freaked him out.
if you're desperate you can get suppositories
Like SS said. We changed to Dymadon and have had no trouble with DD taking it since.
Yeah, we use the syringes too. DD will drink it in her milk if we need to try that too. A lot of friends recommended the chemist own brands of Nurofen and Panadol as they taste better. I tend to agree as DD took them a lot easier. She does seem to lovethe orange Nurofen though - she steels the syringe off us and sucks on it!
I think the trick is to try and rest it right on their tongue as far back as you can without them gagging then give it to them in a few bursts. That's how the ED nurses did it with DD back in March and it worked surprisingly well. MIL was a child nurse once and believes in squeezing their cheeks together so they're forced to open their mouthNeedless to say, we were horrified when she did it to DD recently although DD didn't seem to mind!
as pp's said above, I had a disaster of a time getting DS to take panadol, nurofen he will take no probs, but panadol (syrup) no way, I tried everything! then I tried Dymadon, no probs at all!
I had the problem of DS throwing up everytime I gave it to him once when he was very sick, I ended up having to get suppositories, was quite traumatising for me and him! (mind you, if the pharmacy had even bothered to give me some info about how to insert them, it probably wouldnt have been so bad)
We're the same here, panadol is a nightmare and made DD spew, but she will take nurofen. Although we had to make it a game and DD is now, only just taking it from the syringe. We used to use a spoon to administer it because that wasn't foreign to her. Worked a treat for us![]()
Dymadon or Nurofen here in a syringe no problem. We do have panadol supps as DS2 was sick with fevers and was vomiting as soon as given Dymadon, but generally is ok with it. Panadol syrup no way of kids taking.
