Words "male chromotype" on amnio results - means it's a boy right?!
Hey there. One of the lovely ladies in my MG had an amnio due to risk of chromosomal issues. She just got the results back (all clear thankfully) and the words "male chromotype" were on the results. She really didn't want to find out the sex but it seems she's found out anyway. She said she now needs to know if this is definitive or if she can still imagine that a girl is a possibility. I can't think of any other reasons for these words apart from baby having a Y chromosome. There were no tests done on the Dad.
So just wanting opinions. Any thoughts on what else this could be about, or is bubs definitely a boy?
Dunno. She was a bit uncertain about the word - it was unfamiliar to her. Maybe karyotype? Sounds like it's ultimately gonna mean the same thing though?! Poor love, she's so peeved that she's found out this way. Her DH wanted to look at the results and she just said 'nah, it's all scientific mumbo-jumbo... don't bother'! Now she has to try and keep the secret for another 21 weeks.
They probably should have told her that the results would have contained the sex. Good luck to her cause I know I couldn't keep it a secret for that long!
