My cat has turned into a grumpy old man

I think it probably has something to do with my pregnancy, but our usually quite placid and lazy indoor only housecat Finn has become a grumpy, jealous old man lately. Since I became pregnant he's been quite clingy towards me, wanting to either sit on my lap or on the arm of my chair. This is fine in and of itself but on occasion of late he's started to get possessive.

Case in point, he's never been particularly fond of DD (even though she loves him) but he's taken to taking a swipe at her if he's on the arm of my chair and she comes up to talk to me or give me a hug. He doesn't seem to do it except when he's near me, other than occasionally if he's gotten tired of her pestering him or something. Of course if he's up on the chair the second he does it he gets a firm loud NO and pushed off the chair then ignored, but this doesn't seem to deter him much.

Does anyone know if this will settle once bub arrives and if there's any suggestions on ways to deal with this so he doesn't get the bright idea of taking a swipe at bub too?

You might want to talk to a vet about it. Sometimes when this happens, pets may need a does of hormone therapy or valium.
