Can I start using a tampon again yet?

    Hello all!

As the title suggests, I hate pads and was wondering if it was safe to use a tampon now?

I had a c-section 3 weeks ago, still getting bleeding, it tapered off a lot to almost nothing the last 3 days, and then today its back like the start of AF.... but I think maybe I just had a gush or two with the last few feeds as AF can't be here yet.. can it?!?!

Anyway, in hospy they said for the post birth bleeding to only use a pad... but i'm wondering if now, 3 weeks later, if I can go back to tampons?!

I went back to tampons when I got my 1st period.

When do you think that would be? It can't be already can it?

I'd say it would be too early yet

I had 3 vag births with no tearing or stitches and went back to tampons as soon as the clots had stopped for a few days.

So I guess around 3-4 weeks.

    honestly no...

you are still having post partum bleeding, not technically AF. You need to give your body time to heal and introducing tampons too early puts you at great risk of infection.

Unfortunately you need to ride this one out, after you finish bleeding you will be safe to use a tampon for your next cycle.

If its not too heavy why not try the super pantie liners instead of the big maternity pads, you might have to change more frequently but they are alot more comfortably

Thanks for all the replies xo
I'll stick it out till AF then!

Can anyone recommend any nice pads that don't ride up your bum and don't leak out sides ? It's been 10yrs since I've bought any!

I like Stayfree ultrathin overnights with wings, but NOT the ones with 'Drymax' cover. I find those ones stick to my skin lol

I thought you had to use pads until you've had your 6 week postnatal checkup with a GP? Well for me I had a vaginal birth tore and the thought of pushing a tampon up there afterwards was scary!!
