    Marine Fish

    hi everyone,

we have had tropical fish tank for a number of years and have recently renovated a room and would like to start a marine fish tank and make it a feature in there.

we went to a marine fish pet shop today and spoke to the guy there at length so know some basics now but im looking for advice from people that have a tank themselves or know about them.

we are planning on getting a 4 foot tank, i would also like seahorses to be part of the tank, the guy in the shop said that is ok with certain slow feeding fish (so the seahorses don't starve), so although its a while away until we get any fish (i know we have to cycle the tank for a month of so with no fish in it then start with one fish at a time, adding another every few weeks) but what are good fish to start with ?

I'm interested, too. Have you gotten them yet? If so, how did you go?

DH used to run a marine tank but he caught his own fish. If you are anywhere near Brissie or the Sunny Coast I can show you where . They are a great way of seeding your tank, and free (and very fun to catch!).

Raupe: yes we have the tank up and running now and got our first fish and coral in it last weekend. we are SO excited and just love looking at it already, we just love the fact the whole environment is "alive", no plastic weed in there :-)

skybie: thanks. i was surprised to see the thread pop up in new posts this morning
