Is there such a thing as "normal" weight gain??

I am 24 weeks in & have just weighed myself for the first time since I was 12 weeks.
That weigh was done at the hospital, this one at home.

    I have gained 10 kilos!

I am still doing fitness class with a trainer twice a week & while I have had a few softdrinks, have really cut back on chocolate and lollies, that kind of thing. I have never really been into junk food.

I am feeling quite disheartened & am not sure how to approach this issue for the remainder of my pregnancy, without being unhealthy!

Please help! Is there a "normal" weight gain?
I don't see the midwife for another couple of weeks, so will have to wait to talk to her.

I don't think there's any such thing as "normal" hon - so long as you're eating well and keeping healthy, try not to stress too much about weight gain. Some people don't gain much at all, others gain heaps but lose it all really quickly after the birth - everyone's different. I'm more inclined to go by how you feel, and if you're still feeling fine and bub's growing well you're doing ok

I put on 30kg during pregnancy, but the midwives never weighed me as they said everybody is different, but hey.. 1 year on and I'm pretty much back to birth weight, so it wasn't such a bad thing!

Hun I had put on about 10kg by halfway and over 20kg by the time I was fullterm. I was 58kg to start with and I am now about 62. Don't worry. Eat well, have your little indulgences etc and don't worry you will lose the weight. Some ppl just gain alot I guess, I had morning sickness right through and really wasn't eating alot and still gained alot. If you are eating well and looking after yourself you're doing everything you can. Worry about the weight after bub arrives

If you are eating fairly well & exercising then I would say the weight you have gained for you is 'normal'. Like the OP said, everyone is different. Don't worry too much about what the midwives say - if they mention the gain is a little high - point out that you are generally eating well & still exercising.
