We have a Nissan Navara Dual Cab and I have been tossing up whether to get a capsule (the newer style) for the new bub. The guy at the baby shop said it may not be possible as the strap has to be loosened and re-tightened every time you get the capsule in or out of the car and, in dual cabs, that strap usually falls behind the seat making it tricky to access. Our anchor points are directly behind the seat, against the back ITMS.
Does anyone have a dual cab, or better, a Nissan Navara and also use this style of capsule?
We have a hilux and had a capsule in it for 5 months. Not much help for you though as the anchor was on the floor. We had to use an extension strap. The strap was a bit fiddly to get tight and DH struggled but I never had issues, just had to do lots of little pulls because there was not much room. It was much easier with the back head rest removed.
My cousin has a Nissan Navaro dual cab ute, and she went straight for the reversible baby seat. You might also want to check how much room the capsule takes up compared to the reversible seat. I know in our car the baby seat only fits behind the passanger seat. We should have bought a capsule for when Amelia is travelling backwards, but didn;t want the additional expense (already had a seat from her big brother). Most good baby stores will let you try the seats in your car. At least this way you could have a go with all the straps and see what suits you.
Thanks for the replies! Our DS is in a s&s meridian AHR convertible now and when he was rear facing it was definately very squishy in the passenger seat!
I will try a couple of capsules out at the baby shop.. Hopefully they won't be as big as the convertible seat!
I have a capsule and we had to borrow my brothers hilux dual cab (brand new model) and it was fine!
We were able to get bubs capsule in and out easily, no fuss, and the belt bit that goes around was the perfect length to shorten/lengthen whenever needed we have the strider plus capsule, so I dont know if that affects anything
We have a Holden Rodeo dual cab and we use our baby capsule in there. We had a meridian AHR for our first baby but it is much larger than the capsule. The capsule fit so much better and it was so much easier because capsules are the most awesome baby invention ever .
The strap for our capsule that we take off goes all the way around the capsule so it is really long and we have never had an issue with it falling behind the seat. We had to move the seats forward to attach all the carseats to the baby bolts but it was very doable (we fit 3 in DH's ute).
The baby shop where I got all my baby furniture let us all take it out to the car to see if it would fit before we bought it. Maybe you should ask if you can do that because that will give you an idea of how it works.
