    Question Replacing lost wedding bands

A little while ago my hubby accidently threw his wedding band into the horse paddock when he threw out some hay for them.

We have both looked repeatedly for it but due to the extremely muddy conditions neither have had any luck.

I was really annoyed at first that he had lost it because he was forever telling me off for wearing mine when I am out doing "farm" things.

ANYWAY, I told him I'd not be replacing it but behind his back I have had another priced and its going to cost $600 for the ring plus extra if I choose to have it engraved.

The jewellery shop has a 3 month layby thing so I am thinking I might go and pop the ring on layby.

Now when I do this I am wondering when should I give him his new ring? our anniversary is in 3 days time, his birthday is not until Dec and is actually the day after our due date.

I COULD hold off until the baby is born and give it too him in the hospital ???

Or I could just give it to him and say "here you go, don't loose it"

Would you bu a replacement ring and when would you give it to your partner (man or woman)

well your anniversary is out cause you wont have the ring in time *i think*

do you have a different type of anniversary you could use? Like 1st date etc?

or the baby's birth would be a great time!!

Excellent idea Ness ..... our first date just so happened on Remembrance Day, so I will definately have it paid off in time by November. We don't usually celebrate it so it might be nice to do it then.

    LOl Snap Miss M

Our anniversary is 2nd July sadly the ring will need to be made as per order as its usually a 2 tone design and it needs to be in W.G only not only that I am an AHM with no income aside from a little pocket money hubby gives me If I asked for 6 weeks worth upfront he'd know for sure what I was up to

My DH is up to ring #3 . The latest one is by far the nicest, it is white gold and we bought it from Cash Converters for $90 LOL! I think giving the ring to your DH on the anniversary of your first date sounds lovely

We're in a similar situation! DH went on a business trip to the USA this past winter and his ring flew off his finger as he was throwing a snowball in a cafe car park! Snow knee high everywhere, so it was impossible to find. The Cafe workers said they will look when the snow thawed, but it didn't thaw for another couple of months and they never found it!! Funny thing is that he almost lost it doing the same thing the year before (thowing snowballs!). lol
DH is wearing his engagement band ATM (sounds weird, but we both had one) but we will need to replace it soon. The plan is wedding anniversary which is in October. Either that or our 10 year "together" anniversary in December.

Yep we are on no ring at the moment because he lost the last one recently (ring number three) mind you the first one was stolen from our house by "friend" so i dont blame him for that one. I cant wear any of my rings at the moment because my hands are all eczema'd up (and ok, i have put on weight and they dont fit anymore) so we have matching necklaces now that are our "married to each other necklaces" lol I think one day when we maybe renew our vows (after we win lotto lol) we might get ourselves some new rings :-)

I think its a great idea to get your hubby one, and sounds like November will work out perfect :-)

You could give it to him on the date he proposed! He gave you yours back then, and you give him his this time! I reckon that would be nice, too. If you have a different "engagement" date to the "wedding" date, that is! (I.e. We got engaged in January, but Wedding is going to be in August. So I would give him the ring in January)
    Am I making sense??

DH lost his when we were on holiday dec 2010
We have talked about replacing it, but also that the wedding day wouldn't be in the ring itms... So when we do, we are going to have mine melted down and another two made using mine...
We have decided to wait until his business sells (currently on the market) and we start our new phase of life.
We will probably avoid our wedding anniversary as Dads best friend died at our wedding, maybe the day he proposed...

Maybe give it to him with a chain, so he can wear it on that when doing something he could loose it doing

Strange suggestion but have you looked at hiring a metal detector and searching the paddock while he's not home?

Otherwise I'd say go the anniversary of the first date.

so, the one he lost was too big, given it fell off in the horse paddock?
How will you know the right size?

Im asking cos my DH did the same thing earlier this year, minus the horse paddock. He just lost it when he was drunk at the pub :/
I want to get it replaced, its about the same cost as what you are looking at, but i don want to too big again, and I have NFI how to get his ring size!

Pandora - I think it was a combination of being very cold and wet and he has lost weight since we first got married. I will be ordering the same size as its the only way I can do it and keep it a secret. If its too big then we can have it resized once he has it back but I will leave that decision up to him itms.

I have decided to give it to him on our "first date" anniversary as its the first to come up. That one is November, His Bday is in Dec, our engagement date is in April and we have just passed our wedding anniversary.

    Good luck Pandora x x x x
