Can anyone tell me about Horsham?

Ok, so I really have no idea what I am doing at the moment but DH and I are thinking about buying a little getaway property (which we would possibly move into once we finish up here), we are thinking little country towns but with facilities close by. Horsham has come up recently but I do not recall ever going there before so can anyone tell me about it?

Any other suggestions are also welcome

I can find out the good the bad and the ugly for you if you like hun.
DP's aunt & uncle live near there (when i say near it's their closest major town), they have 2 teenage children who know the ins & outs.
Let me know if you need any info

From what I remember it's a nice area. Pretty central and not far from the Grampians. Go on a holiday there and get the 'feel' of the area.

Horsham is gorgeous - I worked there for a bit in the 6th form college. Nice teenagers, polite people, gorgeous town centre. DH and I are moving to one of the villages local to there as soon as we sell our house. Some areas are worse than others, but there are no really bad areas.

Not too far from London either so if you're in Horsham there are two train stations that can get you to central London in under 40 minutes, even for the slow trains.

No, Div - Horsham is in Sussex. I should know!

(Seriously, stop stealing our place names. We don't have Oonooloobooay as a place name, you get to have great names like that, why take our dull ones too? And let me guess, your Horsham is near Cardiff, Durham and Looe, just to really mess with my geography.)

Not sure if it is, but I used to live in Launceston, on the Tamar River and when there were still counties, it was the County of Cornwall. How does that mess with your geography?

Sorry Daintree Dream - now back to the topic of Horsham

Well if you do move to Horsham in country Victoria, then you'll be relatively close to us, if we make our own move out that way....

In England, Cornwall is a Duchy, not a county, so that's cool.

    It gets hotter here...

We're an hour and a half north of Horsham. Horsham is our closest major town, closest maternity hospital, closest decent shopping.
Alot of people from here actually work in Horsham, and do the travel everyday as there's not much work around here.

Its a cute place to live. We wanted to move there, but unfortunately housing is more expensive there than here.
