DS has had some quite nasty nappy rash on and off for a few weeks, but he's being taken to the GP today, because it's now terrible!! there are pimply things including one on his poor little penis, which now looks inflamed and there's a sore which looked like it had a bit of blood on it
we've tried everything we can think of - we usually use cloth nappies and when he gets nappy rash, we'll dry it out with talc, and we use moogoo.
this nappy rash? not helping.
we've tried sudocrem, cloth wipes, cornflour, ointments (several different types), more no nappy time, even disposables (to see if they keep him drier) ... nothing is working!
I think (based on the bumps) that it must be fungal, but will have to wait and hear the GP's thoughts ...
has anyone else had this happen? how did you fix it?
That sounds likely - I've been sitting here (in bed home sick) doing a bit of research, and it sounds like it's fungal, caused by thrush. not sure how he would have got thrush, but it's definately what it sounds like ... praying that it's easily treatable, and that it's all better soon!
poor little swollen bits, they look so sore ... he's not too affected by it other than when we're changing him, but I don't want him to get an UTI or anything!

DS had this before, bit of an infection. Somehow, he scraped the tip (no idea how, never complained about it!) and it got infected. Just had to take a bit more cleaning it and it was right.
Babyluv - yes, we use cloth. we use pocket nappies overnight with a triple pad, and then during the day we use terry flats with pilchers. we're going to avoid (as much as possible) using pilchers until the rash clears. with dettol, that would make sense ... I was thinking of just putting a cap of dettol in the soak cycle.
MadB - yes, that's how this happened. He got a few little bumps from the rash (in retrospect, probably because it's fungal) and there was one on his penis, then it's burst and become infected. lots of cleaning for the next little while!
