Hotel Recommendations. Melbourne City. One night. Mid week. With little kids.

DH and I have a couple of appointments in Melbourne in a couple of weeks so we need a place to stay for the night, usually I stay with family but since DH is coming this time we have decided to stay in a hotel. So it will be for one night, mid week with our girls aged 3 and 19 months. We were thinking of going to the aquarium in the morning as we will have a few hours spare.

    Any ideas?

We have been to the Sebel at Albert Park,- a little way out but 5 mins in on the tram, we got it on a Mystery deal on wotif/lastminute - can't remember which one but it was about 70% off. Nice hotel! There are CBD mystery deals on there all the time, I know quite a few people who have used them and you save heaps for a 4 or 5 star hotel!

I can recommend hotels in the Oaks accomodation chain (I think in Melb there's a lovely one on St Kilda Rd a little out of the CBD but easy tram distance right outside the door) - lovely hotel, reasonable prices even for 2bed apartment and the service is excellent.

When we stayed there there was an issue with our room where the loo didn't flush, they got a plumber in that day and when that didn't work they handed us the key to the room across the hall and gave us the option of moving entirely or just using the loo in the other room. Sure it was a little annoying but they handled it brilliantly, which says more to me about the quality of the hotel and staff than anything else.

Mantra apartments are all over the CBD and you can get a self contained apartment from wotif or one of the other last minute / discount booking sites.
