After 3 pregnancies in quick succession, my tummy is a lot bigger than it was a few years ago. I still have SPD so I'm restricted in exercise I can currently do.
I've seen a couple of different belly binders and wonder if any actually work? I have post natal SRC shorts and whilst they're supportive, they dont actually reduce tummy size. A physio did once warn me that belly binding can result in organs not going back into the right place. I dont know if that's true.
Has anyone had any success with belly binding? Can you recommend a brand?
I don't know about that but my physio gave me tubigrip for my tummy after DD2 - it was supposed to support the weaker muscles etc after the c/s but it also had the added benefit of holding the jiggly bits in and I do think it helped my belly go back down after the birth.
Not really sure, but I have always been drawn to the idea of belly binding.
Have you considered clinical pilates? I did it throughout dd's pregnancy and postnatally and have just started again. It works on deep muscle connections and really helps improve core strength and stability.
I think it depends on the type of band - after my second c/s I had a DRAM (muscle separation) of 5-6 cms! It was awful so they gave me a band thing like Nai described - when it was hot and I didn't wear it though I wore old granny type undies that mum got me at the market with the big support panel in the front - mums swears by them and that they do help fix things back to where they are meant to be.
I would talk to a physio at your hospital hun (or was it the same physio that said something about organs? Seems weird to me if other women are getting sent home in big tube thingys!)
Over here in China they are huge business. you can get every kind made from every type of matterial. I think every women here has some kind of corsette in her closet. I would recommend 1s you can adjust. Here you can get 1s that have a million hooks and do up the front, tube style 1s and bandage style. The bandage style, to me look the best but time consuming and in summer perhaps not the best idea but you have total control over how tight you make it- there is a certain way to bind them so you need to learn that.
The open weave hook style are most popular here and like I said most women just seem to wear them. Brand names I cant help with though sorry
I had SJD and muscle separation and wore tubigrip, as well as a couple of different bands with velcro that i bought. It did help. It actually made me feel better the instant i put it on. I don't know if it helps reduce tummy size? It helped me feel better, and it enabled me to be more active. Possibly these things help reduce tummy size?
Tubi grip was cheap ($20) from the physio. The other band i had was an Oppi band and i can't remember the other one.
I used a tubi grip and it was brilliant. I have a small tummy pouch but that's pretty much to be expected after 4 pregnancies. However my tummy is mostly flat and my waist is the same shape as pre pregnancy.
