Lite n Easy, anyone tried it?

As I'm sure most of you know, my life has become stressful beyond belief. On Sunday DD and I are moving to our new home without DH. In the 7 days since my marriage broke down, I realised I'd only eaten maybe 5 times...not good. I've lost 4 kg in a week. So today I decided to indulge myself and signed up to Lite n Easy, a 5 day plan. That way all I have to do is pull things out of the fridge...no thinking, no cooking, and I can easily make sure I'm getting food into me.

Has anyone used it? Was the food nice? I'm not really out to lose weight, it's more for convenience, but did you lose any weight? Seeing as I've lost 15 kg in 4 weeks since having DD, I'm more looking for a way to keep my body from going into shutdown mode.

Hey Hun haven't tried it but I think it's a great idea for you. You may need to eat more aswell, so maybe have other snack things on hand like fruit etc. And maybe to remind yourself to eat, have something every time Isla feeds. I lost weight to as my eating disorder issues came back after I had DD and I wasn't eating. Am eating well now though and gaining weight back. But just wanted to let you know that even though I wasn't eating I still had enough milk for DD it just wasn't healthy for me. But I got to the point where I lost my appetite so needed to be reminded to eat. Thinking of you everyday, if you need to chat you know where I am.

I think Lite n easy is good. It's all calorie controlled, so being that you're bfing, you would have to have the higher one. It's really easy to get you into eating correct portions and stuff. Quick and really easy (obviously!). The food is pretty good. I did get a bit sick of it after a month or so though. I lost weight on it (though I get you're not necessarily after weight loss). It can be a bit exxy, though considering you will only be feeding you, it will probably be worth it for the convinience.

I did it for 6 weeks and found the food pretty bad. I honestly got to the point where I could not face another frozen bland meal. I think you are much better off making yourself fresh salad sandwiches and healthy pastas etc but I know that's really hard for you in your situation xo

Yeah I spoke to a lady about BFing and they put me on a higher calorie plan. I just don't have an appetite, and certainly no motivation to shop/cook, so hopefully this can help me.

Great idea. A mate of mine signed up when she was in thesis writing mode and no time for shopping/cooking. She was happy with the food.

Andrew is into his 9th week of lite 'n' easy, but he does dinners only. There has only be 1 dinner that he didn't like "Chicken Dijon" or something like that. The spicy stuff is a bit to hot for him as well. Other than that he loves it. I have also had a couple, as some nights he will have what we're eating if I do a roast or something, and I have found the ones that I have had are really tasty as well.

He is on it to loose weight, but we can't afford the full days worth of meals. So just with dinners only and walking for 20 mins a day he has lost over 5kg in 9 weeks.

I tried it and like Ginger found the food pretty awful. I think its fantastic for you at the moment though - anything that makes life easier has to be good!

Professor and I were on it for a few months a couple years back. The frozen dinner meal thingies are just like Lean Cuisines (only probably more expensive!), but the lunches are frickin' AWESOME. Fresh food, all bagged up and numbered so you know what day to eat it. For example, one day there would be some cold meat and a soy and linseed bun for lunch, with an apple and a yoghurt and a trail mix. REALLY yummy

My DH and I tried it a number of years ago but gave it up after two weeks as we didn't like the food - sorry. However given your circumstances at present I think it it will be perfect for you. Especially glad you have been able to speak to them about the fact that you are b'feeding and that they can put you on a higher calorie plan. Eating right with a newborn is hard enough without your added stresses at the moment. Big hugs. Hope it gets better for you soon xx

DP and I were on it when we were renovating and had no kitchen for the good part of a month. I really enjoyed the food, esp the lunches. I actually could have been on their ads, I enjoyed it so much. I think its a great idea for you at the moment.

something i WISH i had done, when bilby was tiny and i was SO not coping
(not driving, in pain just to stand, not cooking, not up to making sandwiches even)

    - make an online shopping list with Coles or Woollies, even just to get the bare basics of food into the home e.g bread, milk, cereal
    - make a standing order at a fruit n veg place, to have fresh produce delivered
    - when visitors said "is there anything i can do", i could have asked them to make up a whole loaf into sandwiches, gladwrap them, and stick them in the freezer
    - i should have asked my X (you might ask your mum), to make up lunchboxes, snackboxes, to leave for me in the fridge - full of things i could eat one handed (whilst breastfeeding for example, which is a time you're sitting down, and you get nibbly)
    - i should have had a bowl full of fruit on open display, easy to grab a piece of fruit to snack on (things that don't need peeling or cutting up)
    - i wish i had made a list of "things i like to eat" for the fridge, that would have made it easier for helpers.

one thing i did get going, was my "Breastfeeding Box". On one end of couch. with
    - phone
    - lipbalm (or whatever it is, that YOU seem to want, but can't get/find when you're bf-ing
    - 2 litre bottle of water
    - breastpads
    - diary for scheduling
    - pen and paper to make lists etc
    - muesli bars (insert your snack of choice, esp if you can eat it one handed)
    - flat nappy (for DD's spills)
    - spare t-shirt (for me)
    - baby wipes
    - headache medicine (you can also get headaches when you forget to drink enough water)
    - gripe water and measuring pipette (insert whatever YOUR bub needs on a regular basis)
    - tv remote / novel / ipod / insert your escapism preference
    - hairbrush (for when the doorbell goes and you realise, it's late afternoon and you haven't had time/though to brush your own hair
i didn't need ALL of that, the entire time we bf, but it really helped in the beginning - when i was too scared to feed anywhere but the couch and needed a million pillows to be able to feed her.

If your X is visiting on a regular basis and is helpful, you could have a list on the fridge for him, of things to do that need doing. He's the dad, whether you're together or not, you both brought a child into the world.

15kg in four weeks, is a tremendous amount of weight to lose, does your regular GP know about this? I hope you are ok. Breakups, moving house, having a newborn - these things can make you lose weight - but you need to keep up your strength, both ends of the spectrum (too fat, too thin) bring dangers. Do you still have an appetite PZ? Your life has been turned upside down, you're beside yourself, but please eat. I have no idea, the minimum period you can sign up for "lite n easy", i'm hoping it's not a long time, so you can try it and not be locked into 24 months of it, for example, JIC it's not your thang. I hope it IS your thang, cos you're right, it will mean you'll eat 3x a day. I just hope you have fresh stuff in the house, to have AS WELL.

it's hard to eat when you're stressed, i'm hope your GP, a counsellor, someone IRL, gets you some counselling - cos you are dealing with alot = many BB-ers thinking of you, wishing you well, knowing this is a REALLY tough time for you honey.

    love

Loved all the food bar the dinners, so I went on the plan without the dinners. It was handy to just grab a bag(s) and go.

Will probably go back onto it in the next few weeks.

LOVED IT!! I was on LnE for 6 months, due to money probs I couldnt afford it any more, I was on iit for weight loss 1800 cal at $160. per week. It is defs easier all meals are pre packed you even get butter portions, bread, fruit all you need is fresh milk. and a microwave.
Would love to go on it again. It made me realise how much food i should eat to be healthy, i used to only eatonce maybe 2wice a day now i eat 5-6 little meals.
Good Luck and I hope whatever is going on personally works itself out.

We really liked it. I'll echo the other comments about the dinners getting a bit monotonous though. Breakfast, lunches and snacks however were awesome.

Seems like a very sensible mummy decision given what's going on in your life at the moment.

Great idea! Perhaps also set some alarms on your phone to remind you to eat. That will also help get your appetite back too. x
