Female sterilizathion

Has anyone done sterilization before? I'm wondering if it is keyhole surgery, what the cost will be, if there are any side-effects and how the recovery is? Some info please?

I haven't but I know my SIL recently discussed having her tubes tied with a surgeon. He advised that if it is done by keyhole they clip the tubes. If you actually want the tubes tied they have to cut.

I had this procedure done a couple of years ago. It was done in day surgery. My Hbf covered the bulk of the bills and I can't say that I paid much because I don't remember paying anything at all. I would remember if I was a decent amount out of pocket. I wasn't in any serious pain at all afterwards. I kept waiting for the pain to start, so I was very careful walking and lifting etc. I remember being very uncomfortable with my stomach as it was very bloated from the gas that they pump inside me to enable them to do the operation. The surgery is all keyhole and my tubes were clamped. My doctor takes a picture of each clamp in place to keep on file, and he showed me these pictures before I was discharged to prove that the clamps are in place. A big mistake I made was to wear my skinny jeans to the hospital.....I couldn't do them up when I was ready to leave, so I have to tie my jumper around my waist to hide the fact that my jeans were still undone......and it was freezing outside too! So I would advise wearing a nice loose pair of pants or a skirt to hospital.
