Ideas for decorating a girls room that will be ok from 0-6?

When I had DS I went all out and bought the themed sheets, decorative quilt (never used!), wall hangings etc etc. Anyway when DS turned 2.5 years he moved to a car bed and hence a cars themed room. Didn't realize the original theme would be so short lived! This time I'd like something that will last awhile. Maybe butterflies? TBH I have no idea! I was thinking of getting some butterfly canvases that would have her name on the middle one. Too literal or would girls like that sort of thing? Any suggestions would be great

DDs room has butterflies. She is 3 1/2 now and still loves her room. However in saying that it has a butterfly theme I didnt go overboard. I stuck with pastel colours for everything (quilt, sheets, etc) and have some butterfly shaped mirrors on one wall and butterfly prints on the other. I figure when she does get bored with butterflies it's not too hard to change things around as the base/big stuff is pretty nutural.

My mum decorated my old room in their house for when my son visits with me. They went with a jungle theme, which is good because I consider that unisex.
They got a Fischer Price jungle themed portacot with mobile from Target on sale (only $99 and DS LOVES the mobile), some jungle themed wall stickers from Reject Shop, Mum made some curtains from some material she got at Spotlight and found a cute jungle sheet set and some jungle themed toys

    Looks great!

You could stick to pastel colours and just put up wall stickers and some cushions with a theme, such as butterflies, fairies etc... I am in the process of doing this for DD and it is overwhelming!

I guess try and get something easily changeable? Like - with her name, what about buying that in wooden letters (since that will never change, lol), and the colour can be repainted anytime. And then cheap canvasses covered in material - so you could browse the quilting section of a craft store for some lovely butterfly material, and if at 3 years old she decides she hates butterflies, no biggies, just replace the material. Or frames with prints in them, and you can just change the prints. Or cushions where you can change the covers.

There are probably lots of cheap decorating ideas, homemade bunting, things hung from the roof or along the wall with string or ribbon, mobiles...

Having said that, I'd say butterflies is fairly safe....

I think Wall stickers, mobiles and prints are a great inexpensive way to add a theme to the nursery because you can interchange them easily and you can just use the colours for manchester and the more expensive items without committing to a theme forever with everything you put in the room
I think all little girls would love butterflies though! Some of the other themes I have seen around lately are birds, owls and babushka dolls, trees, ponies....

I have my first girl after two boys..I went on to the giggles smiles website and purchased the tree, bird house and squirrel set. I love it. It seems to suit most girl ages.
