Remedies to help relieve coughing at night

I hope this is the right place.....

My 2 little poppets have that terrible cough that is going around right now with a slight runny nose. They cough mostly at night which in turn is keeping them and me awake!
So we are all tired and grumpy in this household! They won't take any cough syrup as they HATE the taste of all of them. They only like Demazin which really doesn't help We have ducted heating all through the house which is being left on during the night, they're all snuggled up in bed each night.

So I am wondering what you use to ease your child's cough? I'm happy for any suggestions including burning oils etc. So please hit me with your ideas! Xx

DD has a terrible cough too. She is on sambuccol which is a natural remedy although she's been taking it and hasnt cleared as fast this time as last time.
She loves the taste of it.

Hope your little ones get well soon. DD and I are also sick with the flu and it hurts more to see them sick than ourselves

Oh no, you poor things. It sure does hurt to see them sick. I slept with DD last night and every time she coughed she'd say "Mummy, I got cough". Broke my heart
I hope you get better soon chicky xoxox

Thanks for the suggestion of Sambuccol, can you buy it from a chemist?

These are the things that work for us - every time.

Teaspoon of honey melted into a glass (or bottle) of warm water.

Eucy bear rub on soles of feet (with socks put on over the top) and on the back and chest.

    Always works here.

i find vaporisers help, maybe the heater isnt helping with the cough, i know if i get hot it makes the cough worse, the heat could also be making their throats dry and hence coughing

Will give the honey and Eucy bear rub a go tonight! I didn't even think of that with my fried brain!

Olive, I was kind of thinking the same thing. I'm not sure though as we have the heater on 18 overnight which keeps the house just warm. When we go outside into the cold her cough gets even worse. So confusing but I definitely see what you're saying.

You should be able to get it from some pharmacies but not all as I went to my local one and they havent even heard of it.

I find ducted heating when I have a cough makes it ten times worse. Perhaps hang some wet clothes over the ducts in their room to dampen the air a bit.

I made the honey drink too and a squeeze of lemon as well hun. Also with the ducted heating what you can do as well is put plates of water on the vent of each one in a few rooms to help humidify the rooms. Good luck hun - hope she is feeling better soon poor darling "I got cough mummy" Awwwwwwwww...................
