OMG!! Is that milk????? Advice, information, experiences wanted!!!

I am home alone so I thought I would have a relaxing soak in the bath.

I took of my top (had no bra on) and there was a tiny drop of "milk" coming out of my left nipple I squeezed and a little more came out!!!!!! WTF!!!!!

I have not breast fed for almost 10 years (and then it was only six weeks or so!!!!)

    What gives???

I am CD 25 today....This is my second "natural cycle" (ie. no IVF) in a row.

ETA - More is coming out!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a bit bloody freaky!

Of course I am praying it is a sign of very early pg but i guess it is a hormonal thing....?

    Anyone else??

It could be pregnancy, although I don't think milk this early is hugely common. A friend of mine has a hormonal problem that means she lactates all the time (her kids are teenagers) so it could be something like that maybe?

A few years ago I got my prolactin checked because I had some drops. DD was about two. Nothing was found...I am slightly hypothyroidic. Not on medication though. Wonder if it's that??
    I will hunt down Minnie!!!

    Thanks everyone!!

If anyone else has possible explanations, please feel free to add them!!

    Oh oh oh!

I lactate when I have antidepressants.... specifically ones that have serotonin in them. I have never been pregnant... but I lactate like a boss when on AD's.

Get to the docs hun, get your prolactin levels checked. They might send you for a head scan as tumors on the pituitary gland can cause a rise in prolactin.

Mine ended up being the AD's but I had all my bloods done and the head scans etc just to make sure everything was okay. Endocrinologist's explanation for me was that I have "boobs that know what they are doing" as soon as there is an increased level of serotonin

Is it a side effect of any medications you are/have been on recently?

    Thanks Sibbie!

I am not on any medication at all so I can't blame that!

I like the idea of having "boobs that know what they're doing" though!!!

My mum told me that the same thing happens to her from time to time. She thinks its normal, a bit weird considering she couldnt BF any of us kids as she didnt have a great amount of supply. But she puts it down to being clucky..

    hi hun,

yep for me it is because of high prolactin, i would suggest having yours checked, mine is usually over 1000 when i get milk like that (normal is about 80-500) and i usually score myself an CT scan or MRI for my troubles, it is easy to drop the level, im only medication weekly for it because when it is high it stops me from ovulating because my body already thinks its pregnant, very frustrating

I had exactly the same thing, except its from my right boob. I have never been preg, but can lactate. Got my levels checked had a mamogram, everything came back normal. I guess I'm just lucky.

i had my son in 2008 and only breastfed for 2 weeks and i still could squeeze milk out just before i got preg with DS2 and then i gave up breastfeeding with DS2 when he was 8 weeks and had it right up until i got pg with this one but even now i can squeeze out to me whats turning into colostrum and im only almost 16 weeks!

I had problems feeding DS2 he would eat every half hour to an hour and i just figured my milk isnt filling him so gave up i obviously had good supply (at 8 weeks i could express 280ml just not filling really)
