    my dog is gone :(

I don't know what to do. my dog got out sometime today while we were at work. my dh went looking for him when he got home but couldn't find him.
I thought maybe he would come home by himself. he still isn't home.
im really sad and scared. im so stupid coz he isn't registered and i didn't put a tag on his collar with my number on it. so dumb i know.
so what do i do now? he has never been gone this long and never at night.

Maybe contact your local vet, see if someone has found him and dropped him in. Is he microchipped? I'd give the animal shelter a ring tomorrow morning, see if he's there, if he's not at the vet.

Ours dogs fled years ago, we called all local vets, drove the streets, called the animal shelter. I made flyers at work but then we got a call a lady up the road had them both.
We had left our details with the vet and she had called them.
If you can maybe do a quick door knock?

yeah we got home too late to ring anywhere so i will be doing that in the morning.
he isn't even microchipped. im such an irresponsible dog owner.. but i love him soooo much.
i might try to get the day off work tmrw and try and track him down.

Sorry to hear your dog has gone exploring.
There is not much you can do tonight. Is he chipped? If he is then hopefully he is picked up and taken to a local vet. If not I would still ring all local vets and give them details. Make flyers straight away. People tend to think that they can keep a dog until they see a flyer that someone has lost their dog. I don't know about your area but in NSW there is a Pet find line you can call and they also send out flyers for you to different places.
Make sure you contact all shelters and pounds too.
I really hope you find him soon or he finds his way home.

Sorry, you posted while I slowly typed. Goodluck.
Also my big advice would be if you do get a tag for his collar, just have a contact number on it. No names (dog or yours). Or if you have a vet you always use then put their details instead. And when you get you dog back make an appointment straight away and get him chipped

hugs hun- definately try the local pounds, local vets and also try anywhere that community groups meet- esp elderly people as they always notice something like a stray dog.
Our dog went missing whilst my mum was watching her whilst we were on holidays. She was missing for 5 days!
We put posters up everywhere and drove the streets asking anyone we saw. we got some positive sightings by talking to people so we knew she was around still!!
In the end a person rang us at 10pm one night to say that they had seen her running down a court in the suburb where she went missing. She had recognised her from a poster we had put at a bus stop and she went back to the bus stop to get our phone number!!! btw we put pull off pieces of paper on the bottom of the notice so she ripped one off!
We drove there as quick as we could and cornered her and got her!!!!!
She was tired, scared and hungry but she was OK!!!
we were soo lucky and i reckon if we hadnt been proactive in trying to find her, we wouldnt have found her!
btw she hasnt tried to escape since !!!
good luck hun and i hope you are as lucky as we were!!!

I hope you find him.. But chances are, someone has found him and he is being well cared for until his home is found.

When my dads dog went missing from our place earlier this year, she was found by someone who took her in and treated her like on of them, so she had a great 'holiday' even though my DH was stressing like crazy.

Oh hun I'm sorry you're going through this. I hope you find him soon. Pets are family, it's just awful to know he's out there somewhere. Hopefully he's with someone trustworthy and he will get surrendered to a shelter or vet. Call all your local ones hun. Gl hun

This is sad hun, I hope he can find himself into safe care or comes home. I am not sure if your councils up there do it but ours offers a free microchipping day once a year for cats and dogs. Might be something to look into for next time. I cannot add to the suggestions other than that because everything that I would have said has been said.

I really really hope this story ends happily for you
