    Snoring

Has anyone had any success with those pressure point rings that are supposed to stop snoring?
I need something for my husband, before I kill him.

I haven't personally but I worked in pharmacy for years and customers swear by them. I assume you mean the rings that go on the pinky finger?

LOL, Human Bean. I know right? It sucks! DH snores however he lays. Belly, back, side. At the moment it's magnified because his sinuses are all blocked from a cold. Last night I tried to seek refuge with DS but he just spent the night kicking me in the back/belly and I ended up having a bit of a mini tantrum at DH, who got grumpy and asked me "well what do you want me to do about it?!"
Frak off to the couch would be nice!!

*sigh* woe is me. I'm not a happy camper on little sleep.

hun... DP has always snored and it's at the point where i often wake up if he STOPS (to check he's still alive).
I had never heard of these pinky ring things, what is it supposed to do?
Might have to look into it.

DP's really bad too his mates always complain if they have to share a room with him and position doesn't make a big difference, i wish he'd just go to the Dr and get checked out though.

There a little ring tha thas a point on the inside that is meant to sit against a pressure point on the inside of your little finger... the pressure point there must be connected to the throat or something, i'm not entirely sure. I just wanted to see if anyone had had success with them as at my chemist they sell for $50, and I don't really want to waste that much money on a gimmick iykwim.

You could try elevating the bed head.

Reason being, my step dad is a chronic snorer. Tried the mask, the laser surgery - even cutting back some bone in his nose from where it had broken years ago and not reset. The laser worked for a little while, but he started snoring again. Mum read/heard somewhere about putting a brick under each of the feet of the bed at the head of the bed, so she did. And he doesn't snore anymore.

OMG. I'm so going to try that. Now that you mention it, if he falls asleep on the couch he doesn't snore because the way our couch is his head is sorta propped up...

Holy crap. I'm so excited! I even have the equipment (peices of 2x4) from propping up DS cot when he was a little refluxy.

You made me laugh ) really kill??? I feel you haha
    To stop snoring:

You can do it naturally with a Neti pot or try nasal decongestants or nasal strips to help you breathe more easily while sleeping. Keep room air moist with a humidifier. Dry air can irritate membranes in the nose and throat.
Elevating your head four inches may ease breathing . Avoid caffeine and heavy meals within two hours of going to bed. Sleep on your side. Avoid sleeping on your back.

    Snoring

Thread resurrected? BBR your neti pot suggestion is a good one, you can also buy hypertonic nasal rinses in a pressurized bottle with a nose nozzle that do the same thing conveniently.

BUT, really, your best bet is to send the Midnight Roaring Snorer along to a sleep centre for a sleep study. I've been there done that. There are sleep centres in the public hospital system, or if you have insurance, the health fund covers like any other hospital admission at a private centre. Then, your darling man will be confronted with the degree of oxygen deprivation going on every single night & the likely health effects & they are more likely to want to get something done to fix it.

PS in my case, guilty as charged, however I only snore when I'm on my back and that's only briefly through the night.

ETA - and read that book with the breathing technique - it doesn't work for everyone but for a subset it does & it's worth trying.

yes agree have a sleep study or more conveniently have a Home-based portable monitor with PM, ask your doctor if he recommends that.Aside from doing the tips or home remedies for snorers

What ended up working ladies? Pinky rings? Elevated bed?
My DH has been snoring for about 6 months now and he's doomed to the couch! But, I have to say I'm quite liking the bed all to myself

    Pinky rings? Elevated bed?
This Anti Snore is a ring worn on the pinky finger that will stop you from snoring. Is this effective? there have been studies it is not. I don't see any relation in wearing ring with snoring. Drying of mouth could be the cause so just drink water before sleeping and have a humidifier to moisten the room and stop drying of mouth. Sleep position is also a big factor, sleep on your side and elevate your bed.

    Re: Snoring

I would like to add that (mild) snoring can be helped by using nasal saline spray and keeping well hydrated.
