Just had to say goodbye to George (distressing)

George was my rooster (wasn't ever meant to have a rooster but a hen ended up being George).
Yesterday he was kindof holding his head to one side a bit - today he had fallen off the perch and could hardly stand up - kind of falling down and clearly distressed.

I called my kind neighbour who has just dug a hole and put George out of his misery for me, buried him and everything.

RIP George - can't believe I get so upset over a chook!

    RIP George.
(hope I'm not being insensitive, but that was one awesome name for a chook!)

Poor you and goodbye George. My DD was devastated when one of our chooks died last year, they really do become part of your family.

I remember I was devastated when our rooster died when I was about 12 (don't think the neighbours were though,LOL).. My brother and I rescued him a few years before hand!.. they are great pets, and I found to be very good companion.

Not at all! He was Mildred when he first came to live with us because he was meant to be a girl - then when it became obvious he was a boy - he became George.
