Depo injection has failed :-(

Has anyone heard of someone falling pregnant 2 months after having the depo injection? I tried looking it up on the web but all the reports say that it is really safe...

I have a friend who fell pregnant after having the depo injection. Not sure exactly how long after.

Heard of it, but no personal experience - it's generally very effective but nothing is absolutely bullet-proof. And it'd depend on how far pregnant we're talking about - Drs usually recommend a barrier method be used for 14 days after the injection if it's the first one or if you've had the injection a bit later than recommended as it can take a little while to become fully effective.

But if it is suspected to have failed, a visit to the Dr pronto to confirm and discuss options would be a good idea.

We had trouble falling pregnant after the depo shot. Apparently the success rate is usually very good. So good infact that it can cause fertility problems for up to 18 months.

Was it in date? No other shots were missed or contraception used as back up in the first cycle on it?

Its not common unless its shortly after having it or when they recommend you have another shot. I've heard alot of people say they fell pregnant after having it but it was 3+ months later.

One of my friends has a baby girl due to it failing but with me it took 2 years after stopping

Yep it can definitely happen. A friend of mine had 2 injections before she knew she was pregnant.
