    Anyone tell me about Bundaberg?

My DH wants to get out of the Defence Force (finally!) and he wants to move to Bundaberg. We have never lived there so have no ties to the region. We have holidayed there a couple of times and enjoyed immensely though.

My DH is from QLD and wants to move back there. He also wants somewhere reasonably close to Brisbane but not too close.

And yes, I think the rum distillery may be a big reason why he likes Bundy so much.

    Any feedback would be great!

I have lived in Bundy a few times. I would recommend living at Bagara over Town any day, mainly because of the heat and potential flooding. Town is really hot. Employment in the town is not that great. I found the people to be nice but clicky. If you and your hubby are into sport you'll find friends, because the town is sport mad. It is a great town to bring up kids too.

    I agree with BekZ...

My FIL lives in bargara... Beautiful spot.. Only 10km from bundy but closer to the beach and not as hot. Innes Park, Elliot Heads, Burnett Heads are other suburbs near bargara on the coast outside bundy too!

Yep, I'm a former Bundy girl! Love that town, it'll always have a big place in my heart
I have lived in a few suburbs down there - Millbank, Avoca, South Bundy, Svensson Heights and Kepnock. Kepnock was my favourite, Avoca's really nice too - good areas for families and houses are pretty cheap all over town. There's not a huge amount of opportunity as far as work goes, lots of seasonal stuff (popular with backpackers for fruit-picking etc) but it's got a nice country-town feel but lots of shopping and entertainment (at least, heaps more pubs than here in Gladstone!).
I also really love the beach - Moore Park is heading out the other side of town, a little bit of a drive but my friend's parents had a gorgeous rambling Queenslander out that way and we loved hanging out there on weekends. Bargara is beautiful, Elliott Heads and Burnett Heads are lovely, I will always hate Innes Park after shredding my feet on submerged rocks there as a kid (lol) but as far as living there goes, I reckon it'd be pretty nice
As much as your DH loves the rum distillery, I'd advise against living nearby hahaha, East Bundy is mainly industrial and a bit, shall we say, run-down. There are much nicer areas to live in, I'd go for Avoca or some parts of Kepnock, personally

    Thanks.

DH wants to buy some land to build the dream house on so we probably won't be in town as such. He has been looking at the townships around Bundy so nothing is off limits.

We have almost paid off our first house so will have a reasonable amount to spend when buying.
