Unhappy scared about having a pap smear tomorrow

ok, so yes ive given birth 6 times, have a few stretch and sweeps and all that doesnt faze me, but a pap smear scares me!

Its been 8.5 years since my last pap smear and 5 years before that was my first pap, ive only ever had 2 done and im 34.

My first one i was about 20, had a male dr, who hurt me and left me bleeding, and didnt explain anything to me, shortly after that pap, i fell pregnant but sadly lost that baby at 11 weeks.

My 2nd pap was during my 3rd pregnancy but 2nd baby, i was 6th months and although had a really nice lady dr doing it, i had my mum there to hold my hand.

I just kept putting it off, just too scared to do it, my mum has adnormal cells and has to do one every yr, and my sister has also had issues as well and had to have cells removed and regular paps.

So the 2 things combined have freaked me out, and tomorrow i am 6 weeks 2 days post baby and am going in for the pap

I know its for my own health safety, and i know its no big deal really, but

I don't think anyone likes having them - but it is better to pick up any abnormalities early. Maybe book a longer appointment with your Dr if possible and let them know you're a bit nervous, that way they can take their time and not rush you through it?

You're not alone luv. No one likes having it done, but as you point out it is a kind of necessary evil.
It is a little uncomfortable, it can even hurt a little, but it is over pretty quickly. And its much better than not catching cervical cancer early. Be brave! You can do it. x

I hate them as well but know they are necessary after having some abnormal cells and treatment a few years ago. You will be fine - is it a Dr you know and trust?

so i had it done, but i may have to have it repeated in 6-8 weeks, as i had a fair bit of mucus, and we dont know why so the dr took swabs and sent them off, so i have to go back in 1 week for the results, and depending on the results, depends on if i have to repeat it. sigh..

i think the dr made a big deal out of it, she got 2 swabs, and went on about a possable infection of my cervix even though i have no signs/symptoms, said she may not be able to do it cause of the mucus, but she got a sample, so who knows.
