Thumbs up What real women look like.

    Why?
A recent study found that 95% of non-eating disordered women overestimate the size of their hips by 16% and their waists by 25%, yet the same women were able to correctly estimate the width of a box.
I stumbled across this site tonight. It's just in its infancy but their aim is to collect galleries of women of all shapes and sizes to help women look at their body with a little more perspective. A little like The Shape of a Mother but not just for mothers.
I think it's a great initiative. Check it out and post your photo if you have one.

Thats awesome. I just searched women who are roughly my size and they look great! So its a real eye opener that just because i am not a size 12 doesn't mean that i don't look good too.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Thanks Onyx! A great site!

A question if anyone knows....American sizes are different from Aussie sizes though aren't they? What is the difference, is it a size up or down...so if I were an aussie size 12, would that be a 14 in American sizing?

3little, it's the opposite by two sizes. So an Aussie 14 is an American 10.

Cool, but I was hoping that it might be in bathers or underwear.. and showing the "real" real bits...Clothes can hide a multitude of sins and i really think it would be great for women to see other women with cellulite, tummy overhangs, stetch marks etc..and even how different in shape someone in a size 14 can look to someone else wearing a size 14...just my personal thoughts???

Lovely site This was something that really helped with my body image, finding pictures of other women with similar weights and measurements and looking at their photos... It helped me see my body for what it actually is, not how I think it to be.

I do wish that site were simply called "what women look like" though... I still feel like by implying that real woman look a certain way is a bit wrong.. still feels somewhat judgmental to me.... I like seeing everyday women though, makes a lovely change from the images we are usually bombarded with

    Thanks for sharing Onyx!

(ps. Blackduckies - google "stop hating your body tumblr" most of the pics there are with less clothing, some are confronting, but there is a lot of triggering stuff wrt harm/eating disorder etc, but nonetheless a great site for promoting body love ETA: maybe try "curve appeal" as well )

blackduckies, I'm with you. I haven't had kids yet, but i did lose a lot of weight when i was younger. Whilst i may appear to look ok with clothes on, clothes off is a whole different story! I would like to see more body (in a non-creepy way )
