    Sodastreams

Had sodastream growing up and was always exciting when we made soft drink!! Anyway point of thread is!!

DH loves mineral water rather than still water as he likes the "scratchy" feeling of the bubbles!!! And he tells me this is why he drinks soft drink, I buy him sparkling mineral water but he drinks it so fast that its $$$ to keep buying SO I was thinking, for fathers day I would maybe buy a sodastream for him!!

BUT do you think this is cost effective?? How often do you replace cylinders? how many bottles does it FIZZ??

    Thanks

DH bought me one for christmas a few years ago, and once the gas ran out it has sat in the cupboard.
I think he worked it out that once you pay for a new gas cylinder, mix, and new bottles (which I need) it is cheaper to buy soft drink

I got one for DH too and although we love it we just get out of the habit and we have been drinking heaps of DC but it is definitely cheaper hun but you have to work it out and depends how fizzy you like your water too!!! We use it more in summertime actually and for around $60 I think they are great! It's good if you have a space for it on your bench too - that is our issue - it's charged and ready to go but sitting under the sink right now. I keep the bottles in the fridge and add cordial as needed.

I'd like to know this too. We had sodastream growing up too- loved it. I think my mum still has the machine- and hopefully the bottles too. It was always cheap and easy for us to replace the gas in the cylinder cause dad worked at a gas company at the time, but i think my mum made some up not so long ago and she said it was a little exxy for the gas. We use to use cordial for the flavours and you recycle the bottles (we had glass ones). They were nicer and it was half the fun just making it. So might look further into myself too- will let ya know how i go.

I use it all the time for me and dd, we go through about 4 bottles a week and change the bottles for $12 at kmart so much cheaper! I did get a spare though as dd gets upset when her bubble juice runs out! We don't use the flavorings.

We use it all the time and you can get the gas bottles from Woolworths/Safeway as well. A gas bottle will last us about a month or so. The flavourings are around $5- $6 a bottle and normally last us 3 - 4 weeks depending on how much we drink.

We have one and I like it.
It costs around $12-$14 to change over the gas bottle when it runs out.
BigW have a pretty good range of flavours if you want to get those as well and they are around $4.50 there for a flavour mix.

    We love ours!
We don't use the flavoring much, just add it to cordial or juice...
Haven't done the figures on it, but I 'think' it works out ok...
Also if you do short bursts of bubbles instead of holding the button down, it's fizzes just as well but uses less gas!

    Thanks for tips girls!

Still tossing up whether to get or not as bench space major issue!

But hoping DH would drink fizzy water rather than soft drink as much!
