    Why meeee?

Why is it that I can procrastinate all day about what housework I should be doing and then at 5pm (when DH knocks off) I hit the panic button and run around like a mad woman trying to make it look like I have actually done something during the day

Puhhhleeeease tell me I'm not the only one. Well actually I know there is another 2 members who do it.... so maybe tell us we're not the only ones

Yes girls, you know who you are

    I do it

But I actually do it when DH comes home and go into "Oh, can you feed DS, I've had NO time to get anything done today!!" mode.

Then when he's bathing DS (like now for instance) I come and sit on the computer.....what on earth do I do all day???? LOL.

I tend to rush around at about 5pm, picking up toys and tidying up everything so the house is nice and clean when DH comes home as he is a bit of a clean freak. Thing is, if he comes home early for some reason, or I really didn't have time to tidy up, he thinks the state of the house is "out of the ordinary" and i have remind him "no dear, don't freak out, the house alway looks like this during the day, this is normal". So no, you're not the only one.

The basket trick is the best - Enchanted knows this one Walk around the house with a basket/box and put everything on the floor and on surfaces that isn't meant to be there in the basket. Then put the basket away in the laundry until you have time to clear it. Perfecto.

I often do 2 runs - one for clothes and one for other crap - works a treat!

Wish I could do this. DH is constantly at me as to why I don't rest in the day if both girls asleep at same time when I only get 6 hours at night, well I can't because IF it happens, I lie there all tense because all I can think about something that needs doing. So I spend all day re-cleaning and tidying because after every meal or snack I'm back to square one and no way can I leave dishes on the bench or crumbs on the floor or the entire contents of the toy boxes out, give me another 5 years I'll probably be one of those incessant hand washers. It's really very unsatisfying - I'm sure your way is MUCH more sane.

It is really ace - I also find that doing a floor run is important, if there is NOTHING on the floor that isn't meant to be there the whole house suddenly looks AMAZING!

I hate that feeling of panic when Im out having left the house a mess and DH rings and asks where I am cause he got home early

If its really bad when he gets home I play the "girls have been terrible today" card he has witnessed the bad days so it works for now

    your not alone

    Girls girls girls..

    We are being smart!!!!

See my reasoning is that if I do massive clean up at say.. 10am.. its just gonna get messy again by the time DH comes home.. so why clean it up more than once?? I do the kitchen sparadocally during the day, washing etc, but the huge toy and crap tidy doesnt happen til late afternoon (I am semi lucky DH gets home at like 6-6:30- sometimes later) then I vacuum and start dinner! The house looks grogeous - on the days i do it!!!

Dh had a few days off last week and he couldnt beleive how quickly the house went from spotless to disaster and actually had a little eye opener to how my day goes! It was nice!!! He now realises that if he does come hom eto a messy disaster zone there is a possibility it was clean at some point during the day, but it just got distroyed again!!!
