    Help for a girl's name

    Hi all

We are stuck on a name for DD2!

This is why: for DD1 we only had two names we liked (Lucy and Hannah). We used Lucy and DP has gone off Hannah.

We're looking for a traditional name, no fancy spelling and preferably with a nice meaning. It would fit with our names if it was of Latin or English/Welsh origin.

To give you an idea, the contenders from both of us (but we don't like the same ones!) are:

    Annabel
    Clare/Clara
    Emma
    Erin
    Gabrielle
    Hannah
    Laura/Lauren
    Miranda

Any other suggestions? My middle name (Larissa) will be her middle name, but whether they sound okay together is not even a consideration at this point!

I love your list Jen. If you're not worried about having the same letters in their names, Lily is lovely (or Lilian)

    Annaleise
    Emily
    Louise
    Caitlyn
    Alanah

I'm terribly biases towards Erin and it does go well with the middle name you have chosen. I think of those on your list, Annabelle goes best with the middle name too.

Thanks girls, some great suggestions! I'm going to add to our lists and we can then cross out the definite nos.

I roped DD in and she has some suggestions of her own (Polly, Molly and Emily). But out of the ones here she likes Laura, Hannah and Erin.

DP is concerned it would sound odd if we had a Lucy and a Laura. Thoughts?

I personally wouldn't do it. We counted out quite a few names we liked for DD because they were too similar to DS's. Mostly one's where the first syllable rhymed (DS is Hayden, so that excluded names like Amy, Kayla, Kaylin etc & anything that started with H). Having said that, if you can't agree on anything else, it's not too similar. Just the first letter. At least they don't rhyme.

    Annabel (Annabelle) of course!

I also like Clara and Polly (Pollyanna).

Lucy was almost our Annabelles name
