would you call your daughter - -

    hayden?

dh and i love the name, but everyone weve told goes eww thats a boys name - which we know that but then dh starts having doubts

i still love it - is there anyway to spell it more girly or something?

we originally had michaela as a girls name - but one of my "friends" i told used it for her girls name so now thats out - top friend!

    thanks

Nup. But then I wouldn't use Cameron for a girl either. Doesn't seemed to have harmed Cameron Diaz

There are so many lovely 'girls' names to use, I'm not a fan of using 'boys' names for girls or gender neutral names. but that's just me.

I was coming to say what Heaven said.

I don't like the name myself but I do think it is fine for a girl.

I am a fan of unisex names and crossing the lines of whats 'girly' or 'masculine'. I say go for it! People close to you will get used to it and in time it will probably lose the 'it's a boys name' feel.

Personally, no - but I tend to prefer traditional girly names over unisex anyways.

I wouldn't let that stop you though, if you love the name, go for it - and as Tashybabe said, having a traditionally masculine name hasn't hurt Cameron Diaz at all. Or any of the other both boys and girls with androgynous names

    My daughter is a Darcy.
At the time we named her, there were hardly any girls named Darcy only boys. I don't think she could make it any girlier.

    I really really like it.
In fact would you be horrified if I put it on our list?

Yeah that She was the first person who popped into my head when I read this thread despite growing up with a Hayden who's a guy! LOL.

If you love it then use it! Everyone else will get over it and get used to it in no time.

Personally I wouldn't because I'm very traditional with names and not a fan of using boys names for girls and vice versa. I'm also not a fan of unisex names either though. Boring I know, LOL!!

If you like it go for it I say. It isn't anyones business what you call your kids.

No. But that is not because I don't think it "belongs" on a girl, just because it is just not my style, as a name. For either gender. I don't know why.

But if the question were "should *you* call your daughter Hayden?" then I would say absolutely, yes, you should, because it is cute and different, and you like it.

I know a guy who has two girls called Jaden and Ronin. They are delightful.

    I quite like it

I like super traditional girlie names, but I like 'boys names' on girls too. Its a way to be different without being 'yooneeke' if you catch my drift.

And at least it actually IS a name and not a random object or the equivalent of a barcode!
