What capsule do you have for your BJ City Select?

    Hi lovelies,

I just can't seem to figure this out, so I will ask your collective wisdom... which capsule do you have for your BJ City Select pram? I am leaning towards the Safe N Sound unity as it goes up to 12 kg where as the other options I think only do till 9kgs.

Is it easy to put in and out of the car/pram?

    TIA!

I've bought the Maxi Cosi which is the best (ideal actually) fit for it. It clips straight into the adapters, no extra bars and no extra clips or straps required which is the case with other capsules on BJ prams. I'm yet to use my capsule though but everyone I've spoken to raves about them though. I have played with it a bit though, connecting it to my City Elite (I've only just ordered my Select) and it's super easy to connect.

I'm think the Maxi Cosi is only up to 9kg though.

Hmmmm.... DS2 is 5.6kg already, so I don't know if I could justify the Maxi Cosi (even though we are planning on more children, God willing, these things don't always happen to plan). Thanks though! I had read that the others were a pain to fit.

    So I would need:
    The pram itself
Second seat and second seat adaptors (for when DS2 grows out of car seat)
    Car seat
    Car seat adaptors too

Is that right? Can I ask where you got your city select from?

I have a bugaboo bee as my single pram (which I LOVE!) and so I'm off to google if a maxicosi can clip into it.

We have the Unity for that very reason. DD is already 7kgs and it goes up to 12. The first time you fit it, it is a bit awkward, but once you get the hang of it I think it is worth it, given that they will be able to stay in it longer. Having said all of that, I know a couple of people that moved their bubs straight into the pram seat at around 4 months (in the fully reclined position). I know they say not to, but I have seen young bubs in the seat and it looks fine to me. You are welcome to come and check out how it all works. I can give you a demo haha!

    Hi Bloom

The seat adapters come with your second seat kit so you don't need to purchase them separately. The car seat adapters are separate though

I've ordered all my gear from the States from a place called Baby on the Run. They get rave reviews on various parent forums (Google them and you'll see what I mean) and the service I've received so far has been fabulous.

I bought my Maxi Cosi on sale at Babies R Us so I got a decent discount plus we are planning on having a third child so the capsule will get enough use and the resale on Maxi Cosi's is brilliant.

My DD didn't hit 9kg until she was over 1 so I'm not too concerned about the weight limit personally but I can see why you and others are. I've bought the bassinet for my Select as well incase, for some reason, the capsule doesn't last long or our new baby hates it I thought it would be good for when I'm just going for a walk too, which I do often. It was only USD$90 so a fair bit cheaper than here in Australia so I could justify the extra spending, lol!

Given you have a Bee I would get the Maxi Cosi. I have a Bee and the Maxi Cosi clips on perfectly. I bought the clips on eBay.

The Maxi Cosi also goes on perfectly onto the City Select.

Maxi cosi here but my dd1 is only 10kg at almost 2 so im hoping dd2 gets a bit of use out of the maxi cosi. It's really easy to clip on and off the pram so love it but I have a reasonably big car and it is bulky to get in and out of the door. (not sure if all capsules are that bulky though). Good luck with whatever you choose, the BJ select is a fab pram!

reading reviews i did notice a trend among parents who used a capsule (not the maxi cosi) and found it frustrating to clip the capsule on ( having said that the bassinette cops a lot of parents saying they were pointless or didnt get much use but my bubba loves his, he sleeps beautifully in it everytime )
before you go out and buy a capsule do think about how long you would plan to use one????
i loved my SnS unity for my daughter and it used to sit on my P&T but i stoped using the capsule after a few months as it was too heavy and akward to lift her in out of the car in it
(not using it for my 3rd due to supid side airbags!!! lol)
but maybe go down to your baby store and get them and you to play with fitting it

PS- we so need to form a BJ city select fan club LOL

Thought I'd come back and update I originally put the Safe n Sound on layby which I picked up on the weekend with the pram. After seeing all the bits I'd have to use everytime I had bubs in and out of the pram, I sent DH back to the baby shop and we swapped it for a Maxi Cosi. Clips straight into the attachment so heaps easier and quicker! I'm not fussed about the smaller weight limit as Moo was over 8 months before he hit 9kgs.

Thanks Cheezelmonster! I had a look at the city select, but it is actually larger than my current 3 wheeler with toddler seat, so we've decided to stick with that. But I am so having a maxi cosi for the next one - these ambulance/kidsafe capsules are SUCH a pain!
