    Greenish ear goo...

DS, 6 months old, has some greeny coloured sticky goo coming out of one ear. It looks pretty gross but doesn't smell, he doesn't seem in pain when I clean it out and has no fever or any other symptoms. Any idea if this is anything to worry about? I have had no experience with ear infections (luckily DD has never had one) but if it was an infection he'd have other symptoms right?

Not always. I'd personally get it checked out, or at the very least give Health Direct a call.

my guess would be a ruptured ear drum...hence the pus, if it is ruptured then the pain usually goes with the rupture DD has had the same lovely goop

Oh that sounds awful! Is there anything the Dr can do for that?

Thanks MissEm, health direct is a good idea. Think I'll give them a call when bub is asleep.

You should see a Dr for any kind of coloured discharge from ears or eyes.

My son has just perforated his ear drum for the second time in as many weeks. Unfortunately for me he doesn't show any signs of earache, generally just has a cold. He is currently on antibiotics as it is quite a bad rupture. I would get it checked by a Dr.
