Valco Ion - anyone got one?

Am buying a new pram/stroller for this my last baby.

    I don't want a 3 wheeler.
    I don't want a heavy pram (so 10kgs+)
I don't want it to take up lots of boot space even though I have plenty of it.
I want it to be easy to fold.
Price isn't a prob, but I'm a baby wearer and it will only get used for one child so I'm not keen on spending $1000.

I have been looking locally and online. Locally we are very isolated so there isn't much choice and online it's so hard to guage, plus the postage is an absolute killer.
So I've come across the Valco Ion. FOlds beautifully, only 8 and a bit kilos, has a bassinette attachment, and an enormous hood (which in the centre of Australia is an absolute bonus). It has single handed steering and comes with lots of extras.

My kids are on the extraordinarily tall side if that makes a difference.

    Anyone got any reviews?

I dont have the valco ion but I do have a valco as well (recent upgrade for DS and when bubs arrives)
I love it, they fold really well and steer really well too. We got heaps of extra with ours and we got a toddler seat that can be put on and it reclines too. I like that the hood is extendable to cover both the new baby (when it arrives) and DS when he's in the toddler seat

    hi kim,

i just bought the Valco Ion Plus which is what i think your are looking at? The Valco Ion is the same pram without the Husssh bassinet. I got mine from Babyzonedirect for quite a good price? I obviously havent used it just very organised! lol i saw it at the baby expo when in Brisbane back in march. it is very compact and so light and very easy to push around even with one hand! the basket isnt HUGE but i think it will be fine. The fold is easy as well.

Ours arrived on the weekend and i have just assembled it and is good as i remember. - cant give you any actual use advice yet (unless i get one of my pups in it lol!) but i am really happy with the purchase. Think it will be great.

Cheers minivini. The baskets no biggie, I have two older packhorses, oops I mean children who can carry their own crap around. Nor am I a huge nappy bag user. I'm actually going to buy the pram and the bassinette separately as it works out cheaper - but you probably got a good deal. Might go and have a look at BZD.

Kell I promise I did look and request one a few weeks ago, but I figured you guys were just busy.

    Thanks Kat.

I was tossing up between the Valco Ion and the Strider Agile - similar price, weight etc

We really liked both but ended up going with the Strider partly because it came in bright green (seriously...that was a strangely compelling reason...I'm blaming pregnancy brain) but mostly because we wanted a travel system and using the Ion with a capsule involved buying adapters etc etc which I didnt likw. Also, the Strider had somewhere for the kid to put his or her feet when we use it as a stroller...I thought the Valco was a bit lacking in that area...but obviously that's a tiny thing - definitely the Valco has a massive hood which suits you perfectly. Valco is also an Australian brand which is a plus too
