After having long hair for the last 6 years, I think I'm ready for a change.
During my pregnancy, I was delighted to discover my damaged hair was suddenly bouncy, shiny and fell in beautiful ringlets down to my elbows. Immediately after DS arrived, my curls dropped out, and my hair went back to its unruly, misbehaving self. This wasn't a problem when I had time to straighten it.
So I'm looking for a great new mummy 'do. I've tried googling, but keep coming up with the same perfect celebrity hairdos, which aren't giving me any good ideas. A hairCUT is different to a hairSTYLE. And google doesn't seem to notice the difference.
Does anyone know of any good hairdressing websites where I can get some good ideas? Or does anyone have a success story of their own new mummy makeover? I'm desperate for a change and quite frankly, am sick of little fingers getting tangled in my locks and ripping them out. I'm looking for something reasonably low maintenance, no shorter than chin/shoulder length.
I'm tempted to just go to any old hairdresser and say CHOP IT OFF! But I'm afraid I'll regret it, and come out with a haircut I'm not happy with, or can't maintain. Yes, I'm very attached to my long hair, and will most definitely feel naked for a while.
I chopped off my long hair last year. I had the same problem as you looking through google as I had no idea if the cuts I was looking at needed lots of styling or maintenance. I ended up going to a hairdresser and telling them that I wanted something shortish (between ears and shoulders), but light, didn't require styling (e.g wash and wear) and framed my face. If you aren't clear on what you do like, at least know what you don't like so you don't end up with that The hairdresser I got really listened and did a great job. But I think you need to have a hairdresser that will actually listen and has enough experience to work with your hair and how it naturally sits.
